This place is amazing! So many good drinks. Come early or expect a long wait.

Knowledgeable if not overly friendly bartenders. Bartenders choice after I said I liked Old Fashioneds were a delicious Jekyll & Hyde and tasty tequila old fashioned.

The strongest drinks in NY, but worth it!

You have to wait but you have a seating place for sure. The big cocktails was really good and strong. Very nice service.

The quality, complexity, & craftsmanship of the cocktail menu at D&C put it at the top tier of cocktails bars in NYC, USA, & arguably the world. That being said the unnecessary pretentiousness detracts

Nice speakeasy experience, but it does feel like they are trying too hard

    Cameron Maddux · December 8, 2015

The cocktails are hit or miss, but always strong. The bartenders are skilled and efficient. James at the door is very polite despite having a hard job. The music was hard rock on Friday night.

    Martin S. · November 28, 2015

One of the great cocktail bars you will ever visit and well worth the wait if there is one. They don't let in any more people than there are seats, so the vibe is always great and the service superb

Pretty damn good. Their book on cocktails is a standard tome in most good cocktail bars

Dark, brooding, and obscured, Death & Co. is everything one expects from a speakeasy-style bar. Though its been around for years, it’s still one of the best places to get an ambitious drink. Read more

First dates & small plates. Fancy cocktails are ridiculous: get the Cure For Pain and Rita Hayworth. Food rundown: tuna tartare, truffle mac, filet, lobster brioche rolls, mushroom tart. Infatuation

    Chelsea Renaud · August 30, 2015

Bad service from host and waitresses. Drinks are sub par.

    Marcela Duron · August 28, 2015

Sit at the bar! Ask for recommendations from the bartender. The only downside is that the kerosene lamps made me feel bit dizzy but maybe that's just from the delicious cocktails.

Quintessential speakeasylong waits, pricey drinks, dark interior. Feels more like a winter spot (read: it has no windows) for a date than anything else.

An exemplary cocktail bar if there ever was one. They've set the standard since 2006 and it's clear why. Drink, drink, & be merry here, regardless of your preferences.

    Red & Brown · August 22, 2015
  • ZZubin

Drinks are good, not great. Vibe is lively speakeasy. Crowd is whoever will wait (often A-Cityers). A/C is lacking in the summer. There are better cocktail spots, but D&C deserves its rep and history

Highly rated but drinks have always seemed sweet and single-noted to me. There are better, less heralded spots in the neighborhood.

The drinks are all expertly mixed. The use of all their esoteric ingredients will make your head spin, but one sip and you'll understand the difference between a bartender and a mixologist. Excellent.

Great selection of inventive, tasty cocktails. The Fistful of Dollars and Beach Goth were both very good.
