The Diego Rivera mural alone makes it worth the trip! If you are there during normal business hours, check out the murals at the Detroit Public Library just west of the DIA across Woodward.

You have to see the Diego Rivera Gallery yourself. The photos not only don't do it justice, but they tend to just show the labor-positive aspects. The art shows the positive and the negative duality.

Decent collection, their modern selection has more impressionists than traditional modernism. Great cafe and low entry fee.
