Stop by the museum on the fair grounds. I found it fun and informative and a nice break from the busyness on the fairground.

Most big events hosted here are awesome. Surprisingly, parking is a breeze and traffic isn't too bad going into the fairgrounds. Definitely worth checking out.

Bathroom attendants ensure things are nearly antiseptic. Give them a tip - the value they provide here is unquestionable.

Update #1: Our favorite food for the 2012 fair (officially) is the funnel cake. Fresh and piping hot, you can't go wrong with this traditional fair food.

Go to the fair during the week. It gets crazy on Friday through Sunday. Too many people and way too much traffic.

The Dutchess County Fair is the largest six-day agricultural fair in New York. If you can get the time off, try and stick to a weekday visit. It's definitely less crowded than the weekend.
