Each weekend, this Mott Haven bodega transforms into a bustling cantina. The carnitas and huaraches are definitely worth a trip.

the carnitas are famous, but the best thing on the menu are the albondigas in chipotle sauce. maybe only available on weekends, but you can't go wrong with anything off this menu.
I was the only customer in here, the only thing I ordered was the horchata to go. Took them nearly 10 mins to ladle the horchata into my styrofoam cup:/
The bodega has evolved into an adjacent restaurant. Chief among them are Chavez’s carnitas, or manteca, in which they baste, along with oranges, limes, Fanta, and Coke.
This looks like just another divey taqueria, but there's plenty of excellent home-cooked Pueblan food too, especially on the weekends.
