Tasty cheap eats. 3 empanadas make a light lunch. Spicy beef, Roquefort and the fried empanada were all nice.

This is definitely a good option in Recoleta. Friendly staff with varied menu though empanadas were certainly the highlight. If looking for parrilla can do much better elsewhere but enjoyed.

Food isn't that great. Waiter service very poor. Tiny tables on the saloon. There are better places in BA for a meal!

The jamon y queso and carne picante empanadas were my favorite. Casual place with carry-out counter. Fairly small so get there early

The humita is kind of like a tamale; it has the consistency of cream of corn wrapped in corn husks. The empanadas are great.

Order at least two or three of the delicious empanadas per person; they are on the smaller size than some of the mammoth hand pies you see around town.

You can taste your way through several variations of empañadas (including our favorite, humita, with creamy corn baked into a crisped salty-sweet crust) at this quirky joint. Read more

Really fair prices for good and local handmade empanadas! Try their wine too! Oh, the decoration downstairs reminds me old medieval pubs!

Amazing empanadas, good steaks, great service, very authentic ambiance. Try matambre as a starter, it is delicious. A must visit Argentinian restaurant in Buenos Aires.

Empanadas are really good, together with wine in the penguin jar. Try the fried one, better then others! More at http://fromtheworld.me/2012/01/06/bue-el-sanjuanino/

I think Time Out should review the ratings here. Its far away from being one of the best empanadas in BA. Btw I ordered cheese and onion, where were the onions? Carne picante was just OK.Terrible wine

Right with beef and great wine, the staple food that many associate as "Argentina" are Empanadas. and some of the best come from El Sanjuanino.
