It was awesome to see it after being in Gdynia immigration museum - the other side of Ellis Island - in Gdynia people started their journey to USA.

Dont try to do everything at once. Take your time and go early! Take the first or second ferry over and it's not too crazy busy

Mmmh nothing special, just historical site...
  • Ken S.
First floor had almost nothing to do with the actual place (general education), but the second and third floors were impressive.
  • Bryan D.
Make sure to allow enough time to see the diverse exhibits.

If pressed for time, spend it here rather than at the Statue of Liberty. Amazing and moving.

Powerful and historical. Make sure you have enough time to look on all of the rooms and floors.
  • Lizzie H.
Informative, but you'll only enjoy this if you're a history lover or if you have a personal connection to an immigrant that passed through Ellis Island.

The hard hat tour of the unrestored hospital complex is a must. Humbling and surreal.

The museum is OK-ish, but the boat ride from Battery Park out to the island is worth the trip. You don't have to stop at the Statue of Liberty.

Worth the trip to get a glimpse of your ancestors steps. There isn't a physical log book with the names. You can find it all online.

Be sure to go to the research room with computers to look up your own immigrant ancestors (warning -they only allow 30 minutes). Also, use the advanced filter option to narrow the search!
