Line is fast moving
This is the best Fairway in the city as far as selection goes. The layout is a little crazy and it can be difficult to maneuver the aisles, but it's worth the trouble.
Great heath food and vitamin shop on the second floor!
The lines are really disorganized. If you are strategic, you can look around and barely wait.
they seem to have new carts. so during rush hour it's even more of a shit show.
Shopping here is a full contact sport.
Another great spot to find groceries, although a little south from campus.
Has great freshly squeezed orange juice and really good fruit. It also has an amazing selection of cookies and foreign candy.
Free Classic Baguette Contest - Today at the UWS Location
Excellent selection, but no wine
Controlled chaos - great prepared foods, excellent produce and some pretty nice people too. A good grocery stop.
Always come here for shopping, usually has everything I need. Also they have a large variety of freshly grounded coffee.
Love the granola options on the second floor. Cheaper than whole foods. They also carry sesame sticks and corn kernels in bulk bins. Good variety of international fruits. Cheap soups.
I try to go either very early or after 8pm. Weekends are a cluster.
No customer service. No English. Know what you're looking for. Great selection of cheeses.
Best grocery store in Manhattan. Avoid during rush hour - it's a madhouse!
The butchers here are amazing! If you can't find something on the shelves, they will find some more in the back or cut it fresh for you.
Want smoked fish? Wait here, it's a separate line from the deli
I drizzle Silver Spring wasabi sauce (at fish counter) on my chilled crab cake (also at the fish counter) for a quick snack. It's an amazing combination!
Try pairing the grilled salmon (chilled at deli counter) with stuffed grape leaves (at the self serve cold salad bar).
It's usually super crowded and difficult to maneuver around crowds of people to find what you need.
Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp Gelato is made with milk from Maine farms, blueberries from Down East, vanilla beans from Madagascar, and crunchy oat streusel baked in Brunswick.
Complete unorganized with no leadership from the "supervisors". I'll be sticking to Trader Joe's.
There is a steakhouse restaurant on the 2nd floor. Take the elevator.
Fairway Harlem is way better than this location. Be warned, the only way you can sit in the cafe is if you get table service. The counter person fails to inform customers this.
Beware the pies. No freshness dates. No marked prices. Mine had mold all over the bottom.
It is so hot out. Why do they leave the berries outside.
Beware of the shopping carts!
Beware. They leave fruit outside day and night in the heat.
Cafe is upstairs
Down, set, hut one, shop!
Order a coke. Expect an 8oz bottle with a glass of ice.
Seems like dinner time on a Saturday is the time to shop. Aisles are much less crowded though still a little wait in checkout
Great coffee selection. Try the Fairway dark organic blend
Don't forget the elbow pads.
A reliable breakfast spot on the Upper West Side that also serves a great lunch burger and hot fudge sundae.
Plan your grocery list before you go or you will be run over. Also, beware old ladies or else you'll run one over. Pause halfway through at the olive bar to compose yourself. Then continue.
Best pancakes and bacon. Shop upstairs for organic.
Coffee is really quite good, on the 2nd floor
You can pick up all the ingredients you need to bake a delicious chocolate cake or cookies at Fairway, including SCHARFFEN BERGER chocolate!
Cheese cake is AMAZING!!
get in early and beat the rush
Nice Restaurant too.
Forced to sit on uncomfortable bar chairs at a tiny bar table with plants basically in my face. Crammed near Customer Service. WAY too tight! Need more space! AC also turned up way too high.
I love Fairway, but the cafe upstairs is not so great at this location if you want to bring something from downstairs bought at the market to eat there.
Try the lemon meringue pie, the awesome peach & blueberry cobbler!
They're open until 1:00 AM. Best time to shop is after 11:00 PM.
Why should one buy berries here when they are left outside all day? Might as well buy from the nearby fruit cart at about half the price. If they want us to pay a premium price refrigerate them.
The deals on meat/poultry and fresh produce make this grocery destination worth it! Great place to stock up on chicken breasts. Later in the evening is the best time to go!
I've seen better manners at zoos - avoid at all costs
