Fang is an upscale Chinese restaurant and lounge serving inventive, healthy, fine Chinese cuisine in a large and modern space in SOMA.
The chef will insist on ordering for you, with a bit of an attitude. But fair enough, the food is good
Go and request the family style... Say what you're allergic to and they'll just keep on bringing you food...till you can't no more!
Delicious food but can get a bit pricey
Let them order for our group of five for lunch, got about 6-7 dishes for about 20 per person. Lovely authentic & fusion food, great value.
So I love this place, it's a little pricey. Bring a bunch of people so you can get more dishes and just let the chef order for you.
Onion cake was great. Everything else was not.
Go with chefs choice, you won't be disappointed. Onion cake and zucchini buns are awesome!!
Appetizers can come out after some of the entrees, so there's no way around their inability to bring everyone's food out at the same time.
Mr. Fang himself hooked us up. Awesome!
It felt strange when the owner took out a menu from our hands, and told to forget about it, he is a chef. I guess it seemed charming to other people, but we knew exactly what we wanted. Food was great
Innovative fusion Chinese food. Great for take out. Try the short ribs.
Ask the owner to surprise you.
The chef (if he's your server) will cook whatever you want even if it's not on menu. 👍
Let the chef order for you. The fried honey short ribs were on point.
Food is nice but a little pricey. The fish is so small don't order
Disappointing service by Fang himself - no smile, no recommendations. Had been so excited to try but unfortunately won't be back. Hot and Sour soup was the highlight from the otherwise average food.
Lo mein was on point! Potstickers were also great. Cheap wine!
Make sure to order appetizers if you're in a group because fang staff has not yet figured out how to bring everyone's entrees out near the same time
Just let the chef do his magic. This place is fenomenal!!
get the omakase. I do it every time and I have yet to be disappointed by what they bring out. they also take suggestions so give them your preferences!
Impressed with the presentation, service and food. The picture I have here speaks for itself. I had a rice with beef dish and duck in a bun.
Amazing! Worth the wait
Service kind of sporadic but the food was really good.
Come here, say you've never been, and enjoy. It's fantastic.
Soup time <3
Believe this is a sister restaurant to House of Banking. We had the waiter just bring us his recommendations and literally Everything was delicious! Couldn't get enough.
Let the chef pick the dishes for a full course menu for you. Really.
Brown rice with fish and shrimp good flavor but they mix in fermented black beans ewww. Everything was small portions, flavor was there but overpriced for what it is.
Egg rolls are surprisingly good, dumpings were avg but sauce was tasty. Bf short ribs were recommene, it was okk. Good flavor but its pretty much like salt and pepper fried beef stew cubes.
Onion pancakes. Shrimp fried rice. Awesome. Also try the Hainan punch if you want something light.
The brown rice with chicken and tofu was amazing!
Honey prawns were spectacular
Great Chinese food.
Let them choose your courses. Terrific food. Inexpensive prices.
Happy hour specials are pretty amazing! Cheap appetizers and drinks. The service was just okay for us, not great.
Good food, bloody awful service. They've got no idea what's going on.
The food was awesome, but the service left a bit to be desired.
Pork dumplings were great
Don't miss the onion pancakes!
Was there for a private party and wow they can crank out large volumes of tasty Asian food.
A little bit of a racket at dinner. "Order for you" turns into upgrading things you ask for to more expensive similar options without really giving you a choice. On the other hand, it's good food.
Great food. Excellent service!
Beef buns are to die for. Love the blossoming green tea as well.
Servers here avoid eye contact. Hard to get their attention and memory to order.
Bbq spare ribs and pork steam bun are amazing. Fast, cheap, and delicious.
"An emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients make classic dishes (steamed soup dumplings, fried egg rolls, sesame chicken) shine."
If your with a group of people, just tell them to order for you. You won't be disappointed
My favorite Chinese spot in SF! The must try's are the Nanking Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef Tower and the House Fried Rice. If you're in a large group, have the chef choose your meal.
