People tend to check in during these times:
We envision the Ferry Building Marketplace as a vibrant gathering of local farmers, artisan producers, and independently owned and operated food businesses and the customers they serve.
Lots of little artisanal shops inside as well as some more established places (Peet's Coffee). Easily accessible from public transportation. Also easy to get ferry tickets etc.
Go for the great restaurants

Throughly enjoyed seeing the refurbished Ferry Building with the Farmers Market. I used to work as a waiter and wine steward at the World Trade Club here 25 years ago. Good times. :-)

Il martedì giovedì e sabato potete trovare il meglio di frutta e ortaggi californiani. L'atmosfera non è certo quella di un tipico mercatino partenopeo, ma se ci passate non vi sentirete così lontani!
