    This is a very large area to explore and could easily be a day. To avoid ticket lines purchase in the back entrance otherwise at the coliseum it may take hours.

    If you're planning to visit the Roman Forum & Colosseum, I suggest booking a tour guide. €25 and worth every penny! You'll find them (they'll find you) outside the main entrance to the Colosseum.

    You should buy the tickets first, next to the Colosseum. The tickets are valid for the Forum, Palatinus and for the Colosseum too.

    You can easily spend a hour or two walking around the Forum and Palatine. Lots of nice views, and green gardens.

    I think its the best if you start your visit of ancient roma from the forum, it is of course incredible, be sure to have an audioguide and also go to palatino, then visit the colosseum.
