El Grande: chicken escalope, ham, mozzarella and Sun dried tomato on a toasted ciabatta. Could be a bit bigger but not bad for £4.80

A Shoreditch staple, avoid queues by visiting either side of the lunch hour. The Veg Special—a Spanish tortilla in a bap—with an extra smattering of mayo and Tabasco is a quick and dirty lunch treat.

This place is nuts. Utterly nuts. 328 different people serving at the same time, yet all somehow keep track of your order. Damn fine New York special if you can get your head round the organised chaos
