People tend to check in during these times:
Traditional multiroom gallery space, but large enough to hold fun and bright, giant Takashi Murikami pieces. Location on 24th Street is good to catch multiple other galleries on the same block.
Huge space in Chelsea with multiple locations world wide with stellar exhibitions by world class artists. The epitome of the NYC gallery scene
Modern art at its finest! The Gagosian Gallery features some of today’s best modern art from the best artists. If they have a show for Cecily Brown, run, don’t walk!
Steal away for a weekday afternoon with your favorite art lover and check out the exhilarating masterworks at this gallery, which launched the careers of important contemporary artists.
Okay, so the Gagosian technically isn’t a museum, but it’s definitely one of the biggest and best galleries in NYC. Our tip: Don’t miss the Richard Serra show – a must see!
The contemporary art gallery’s flagship location has hosted some of the most monumental artworks in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
Richard Serra's exhibit is exhilarating in its sheer scale. Make sure to go to the 24th street and 21st street locations to see all. ps - was open on Monday.
Before you leave, be sure and annoy the very Germanic security guard by asking who the artist is and then intentionally mangling the pronunciation of his name. Fun!
I was followed by security the entire time. I thought it might be part of the exhibit. That feeling of the walls closing in. Felt I was doing something wrong by being there.
Features modern & contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography, mixed-media installations by primarily post-war American and European artists.
Awesome space. Architecture, art and design in Prouvés exhibition. Mass production and easy assembly of structures.
NY Gagosian do not disappoint me compared to London and Paris. Props to recent Basquiat's retrospective show. The show of year 2013.
You'll never get a better chance to see so much of Basquiat's work so intimately. Run to this spectacular show--on til 4/6
Winner of Best Gallery in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon was an employee back in the day.
the massive and voluminous sculptures of John Chamberlain look great in this space. the arrangement invites exploration and play through movement.
