chief recommendation is a lot and Great!
The prices are ok but you can get real Japanese foods.
A hidden "gen"
Lots of sake options and melt in your mouth sushi, which is a roll in the menu.
Go for the sushi for two. You get to pick a special roll with it and it comes with miso soup. That and a dollar green tea each will set you back just 50 bucks.
Your friendly neighborhood sushi restaurant with a chill vibe. The seared tuna belly roll with avocado is a great combination of flavors.
Sashimi deluxe is always fresh, spicy tuna roll has the mayo on top.
Tues-Thurs special: draft beer or house sake $3. Get two of each.
Short ribs & soba noodles
Very good Sushi....If you like spicy try the Spicy citrus salmon Shashimi
great tasting sushi from the chef with japanese dreads. get a bottle of wine and chow down.
The Traditional Breakfast brought me back to Japan. Try it if you've spent time living in Japan or want to embrace traditional food, it's not easy to find! Yaki-salmon, unagi-maki, kinpira, and NATTO!
Nabeyaki udon or the grilled white tuna. Sooo good.
Make a home at the sushi bar. The chefs are super kind, will remember you and hook you up when you come back....
Came in for take-out maki lunch special. Haven't eaten yet, but they're playing Aphex Twin, which at least indicates they have good taste in music!
Amazing place and food!
This is possibly the best Japanese sushi restaurant in Brooklyn. Also, if you're lucky, your waiter might be McGuyver (or Keifer Southerland from Lost Boys).
Super friendly staff. Really fresh sushi.
Sit in the backyard! It's beautiful!
The staff is pleasant, the food presentation is awesome, and it tastes great. The prices are also great, I will come here again.
My first taste of uni (urchin) was here. Loved it.
Early bird special Tu-Thu from 5:30-7:30p. Delicious!!
Try the lunch box at brunch. Its always delightful.
They have peruvian style sushi which is rare
Be nice and come back often.
This is really the best sushi in all of Brooklyn. It's served the way it should and always go for the Chef special.
What a GEM! The lunch special is the best bet. If you are feeling adventurous try the fermented tofu (its a little nutty) but if not, the old standards for sushi are excellent, fresh and well priced.
Try to get ten don if you can, although sometimes the servers will insist it's only on the lunch menu.
Brunch specials are tasty & delicious but order a side to be full!
Staff Pick! Stephanie (Education): Gen has high-quality, fresh sushi at good prices. The patio out back is a lovely spot for dining in the spring and summer. Enjoy the green or red bean ice cream.
Staff Pick! Richard (Membership): Genuine no frills Japanese cuisine on Washington Ave
The sushi for two plate is tasty. Make sure you go during the week for off-the-menu specials.
