People tend to check in during these times:
Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Gardens, the home of George Washington.
National Treasure was not as interesting as I hoped. But the grounds and the view of the Potomac are still gorgeous.
Great way to spend a day in Merica!!
I love history & to be able to walk the same stairs and halls of our great and first President was a thrill for me. The gardens are fabulous! Be sure to visit the tomb.
Loved my visit, but tons of tour buses and kids!
My first visit. The views of the Potomac are outstanding.
A must visit when in DC or Virginia. Beautiful gardens and daily demonstrations of what life was like in the 1700s. Lots to see between the house, museum, and the tomb. Different every season.
very informative, glad to see the museum is as worthwhile as the mansion and grounds
If you are at all interested in American History please check this place out. Gave me an entirely new perspective on George Washington.
I can't believe I am hare ever thing☺☺
Beautiful. It was amazing and a lot to see. Very impressive property.
Hold onto your Mount Vernon entrance ticket when you leave and use it at Washington's distillery just a few miles down the road! Definitely worth the additional stop!
In the spring visiting the sheep area is a must especially when the lambs are out.
Just quite simply, beautiful anytime of year
A must see is the distillery
Go hang out and chat with Martha a while.
Take the boat tour on the Potomac.
So much history and so well done. Great views and food.
George Washington's home...so much history. Make sure to visit his burial site and pay your respects. Make sure to tour the home and museum.
Such a great place to explore
If in by boat, eat on the boat to conserve time for walking to the various sites.
Take the sightseeing cruise . The views are amazing
$17 pp felt a bit pricey.
After the tour, come to the back of the house. One of the best views of the Potomac.
Plan on spending the day! We didn't see everything and were there for nearly 8 hours. We did the movie, mansion, dinner tour, lunch, wharf, farm, education center. Missed the museum. A favorite place!
I Love this place so much it's like my home! Check out the Potomac view, the tombs&the educational center. Make sure to go on the forest trail! Oh yeah, maybe touring the house would be a good idea ;)
This place is very pretty, and can get pretty hot during the Summer so drink up.
Everyone please vote for George at
So much inspiring art and history. The Learning Center is where the action is, but museum is far quieter and displays the dramatic original art you come to see.
Make your BM early for any race starting here! The lines get long!!!
Travel just west of the estate and see Mount Vernon as visitors would when they first arrived. You can easily see how they would be impressed, if not slightly in awe, of his home.
Home of our 1st President, this place showcases how Washington lived. Be sure to take it all in, especially with this place a bit off the beaten path and away from the heart of DC!
Tickets for the Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour's Saturday night event have sold out! There are still tickets available for Friday and Sunday (May 17 & 19). Read more
Attention whiskey fans: The new batch of George Washington Rye Whiskey (unaged) will be available for purchase on April 4th at 10am. The whiskey is available for purchase in person only. Cheers!
You can buy tour tickets on line, strongly recommend. Definitely go through the educ museum inside, very interesting!
Not only is this educational, it's eventful. In every room, George Washington is reflected in the furniture, lighting, etc. The garden is spectacular in the spring and you may even see his dentures!
Wonderful! A must see for all Americans!!!
Tickets are timed entry to the house, but you can wander the grounds while you wait.
Check it out!!!
If you're a local, consider getting the $25 yearly pass instead of the standard $15 one-time admission.
The estate is lovely; the food court, not so much. George and Martha would be embarrassed at the high prices and poor selection. Bring your own!
Mount Vernon is home to our first President, George Washington. Kids will love the interactive museum & parents will love the rich history. Enjoy the beautiful gardens & views of the Potomac!
Don't wear your good shoes because all the walkways are dirt.
If you are in a time pinch and want to make sure to tour the mansion, buy an annual pass (an extra $10) and you can bypass scheduled tour times and go directly into the mansion.
Take your time while visiting this place. Lots of history here, and eat lunch at the inn next door!
Don't eat at the restaurant mediocre
Free admission on Presidents Day
Love how all the guides call him "the General." Also, you can bring your dog! (But not in the house or museums.)
Check out the salt house. It's cant miss!
