Georgia Aquarium is an entertaining, intriguing and educational experience for guests of all ages. While promoting a fun and enjoyable learning experience, the Aquarium instills in its guests a new appreciation for the world’s aquatic biodiversity.
It's the world's largest aquarium housing more than 100,000 animals of 500 different species. The aquarium was built as a gift to the city of Atlanta from Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus in 2001.
This aquarium holds 38 million liters of water, making it the second-largest aquarium in the world. Its 60 tanks are home to some 100 000 animals of 500 different species. The aqua tunnel is amazing!
The Georgia Aquarium is the #1 attraction in Atlanta and rightfully so. It is the largest indoor aquarium in the world with whale sharks and beluga whales, just to name list a few of the star performe
Stop by the petting tank under the lighthouse to touch some bonnethead sharks and cownose rays.
Make sure to check out the fresh water fish exhibit!
Don't miss out on the Ocean Voyager Exhibit. It holds 6.3 million gallons of water and houses thousands of animals, including four whale sharks and four manta rays!
It has been estimated that half the water in the whale shark's tank has been recycled as urine. The shark has requested a Brita filter, but it's currently on backorder from Amazon.
Got kids? They'll love the boat/playground area. The otter exhibit is a big hit too.
There's a big window into the Ocean Voyager exhibit in the ballroom, second floor, past the restaurant. It's not obvious, so even on a busy day, it's relatively quiet. Beautiful.
My favorite part is the giant viewing window. 6.3 mil gal of water full of fish including whale sharks.

No other aquarium in the world has more animal species, populating 60 exhibits immersed in 10 million gallons of water.
It may appear to be a giant food court built in a wrap around fish tank but i is still worth experiencing.
For the most crowd-free visit plan to arrive near opening or late in the day.
Go to Whale shark display during one of the Dolphin shows, hardly anyone in main viewing area
Buy your tix online and bypass the insane ticket office line. Also, go on a weekday if you can. The weekend crowd is miserable, esp if you're claustrophobic or value your personal space!
Awesome place! Live the touch & feel tanks. Worth the $15 foursquare deal!
A word of warning, Friday is field trip day!

Visit the Otters
Don't go on a weekend and make sure you are 30 minutes early for the Dolphin Tale show.
