The ferry is free before noon on weekends. The lines can get long, so make sure you get there at least 30 min before your desired departure time!
Ferry is no longer free most times (save the first two trips out from Manhattan on the weekends). Now costs $2 round trip for adults or $20 for the season pass but now runs during the week.

It actually only leaves every 30 mins on weekends from 11AM. Prior to that there is only one departure at 10AM

Fits much more people than the line ever makes it look. They can almost always fit everyone on. Sit up top for more space and better people watching.

Lots more free stuff than the island itself. Free bike rentals on Fridays and free minigolf on weekends. Who doesn't like free stuff?

There is a bike line and a pedestrian line.
Quite the fun ride.
It takes more than 10 mins to get passengers off the boat, so dont tell me this boat is every 10 mins.
