People tend to check in during these times:
One of my fav watering holes. Prices are pretty decent for Manhattan. Bathrooms are kind of on the stinky side. You can play darts in the back. $1 popcorn bowls. You may also bring your own food in.
Cheap drinks. Very dive.
It's like Star Trek, DS9. An outpost on the edge of the neutral zone full of different species. Blueshirts, NYU kids, jocks and third wave crusts. There's something for everyone.
So inexpensive, such a great atmosphere. A wonderful place to go with friends!
Take care of the bartenders.
Love this bar. Zero pretentiousness, good cheap beer, and $1 popcorn. I've literally never had a bad time here.
Great beer selection
Very old school spot!
Enjoy the beer (and these prices) before the space becomes yet another fro-yo spot.
$1 popcorn is killer
Cheap pitchers and pints of a large variety of draft beers. Great music in the jukebox and great friendly staff.
One of my favorite hidden little bars around. Located on St. Mark's Place. No amazing drink specials, but a friendly staff and good vibes. $11-$20 pitchers and very stiff drinks.
Probably the last true s**thole dive remaining on St. Marks. Beer, jukebox, popcorn in that order.
You can't find a more genuine dive bar! Grab a pitcher and settle in at a table. And don't miss the jukebox!
Jazz on a Sunday night, super cheap beers, champagne for 5 bucks and a popcorn maker. Old school!
Cheap ass drinks
Cash only, but the $1 popcorn may be the best deal in the city.
The bartenders are nice, you can usually find a seat, and a pitcher of beer will run you $10-15.
Terrible but where else do you go at 2:30 on a Sunday?
Once of the last places in the village to have truly, profoundly bad well scotch.
Great for cheap impromptu happy hour. Send all your friends an email and then meet for darts, beer, and a great juke box.
Cheap beer and darts... Empty on a Sunday.
Cash only, beware.
You can grab a pitcher of whatever, but come here for the jukebox--it's literally impossible to choose a bad song.
This is one of those hole in the corner that you will never find unless someone shows you the way. Darts and cheap beer, what more can you ask for?
Authentic, no pretense, good beer, cheap cocktails
Good ol' EV 'hood no frills old school bar still stands at where it's been after all these years while other bars were all gone or taken over by hip eateries or boutiques. Love it or hate it.
super cheap pitchers of beer!
Only order pitchers. Wicked cheap. Often $9 pitchers specials.
Have your ID ready. Even
Great prices, awesome people. Love it here, but good luck finding a table after 10.
Cheap cheap pitchers of Amber Bock!
Avoid the bathroom. I love u grassroots but it's true.
$9 Bud Light pitchers! Awesome vibe. Great place to meet a big group of friends and have a good time.
Ugh cash only here
$7 pitchers before & you can bring in outside food (2 Bros Pizz). Winning!
Come for the booze stay for the ambiance!
O-M-G! The bouncers are so dreamy!
Don't come here, its perfect without you
Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Nobody knows Grassroots is there, but it's always full. Three reasons: beer, darts, conversation. Get a pitcher of Bass and enjoy.
This is where Shani buys a pitcher for himself...then bad things happen.
Favorite bar. Best prices I've found in Manhattan.
$7 pitchers, great place to just sit back and drink some beers
Jameson & Ginger from Bob or Maria. Best bartenders in the city.
This is my favorite bar in all of New York City. It was my local for four years since I lived accross the street! Best bar in the Village, great staff, and just a great atmosphere!!!
host a podcast with film critics, get drunk and have 2,000 people listen to each episode.
Go to Grassroots for happy hour, bring a friend, and split a pitcher for a few bucks each.
