It's cheap, dingy, dark, old, and the bar looks beaten up, but I love it. Cheapest happy hour on St. Mark's, and probably the cheapest overall on the block as well. So what? This is where you pregame.

One of my fav watering holes. Prices are pretty decent for Manhattan. Bathrooms are kind of on the stinky side. You can play darts in the back. $1 popcorn bowls. You may also bring your own food in.

One of my favorite hidden little bars around. Located on St. Mark's Place. No amazing drink specials, but a friendly staff and good vibes. $11-$20 pitchers and very stiff drinks.

This is my favorite bar in all of New York City. It was my local for four years since I lived accross the street! Best bar in the Village, great staff, and just a great atmosphere!!!

It's like Star Trek, DS9. An outpost on the edge of the neutral zone full of different species. Blueshirts, NYU kids, jocks and third wave crusts. There's something for everyone.

Good ol' EV 'hood no frills old school bar still stands at where it's been after all these years while other bars were all gone or taken over by hip eateries or boutiques. Love it or hate it.

Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Nobody knows Grassroots is there, but it's always full. Three reasons: beer, darts, conversation. Get a pitcher of Bass and enjoy.

Best avoided during weekend nights, this old-timer is a welcome respite from St. Mark's madness during the week. Tall folks beware of the low ceilings. Read more

This is one of those hole in the corner that you will never find unless someone shows you the way. Darts and cheap beer, what more can you ask for?

The bartenders are nice, you can usually find a seat, and a pitcher of beer will run you $10-15.
