The Billy Goat trail is a challenging, but fun hike. The trail sometimes closes when there is heavy rain. Wear hiking boots or really good sneakers.

Extremely scenic beauty
Enjoy the majestic outdoors at this scenic park just outside of DC. There are 3 outlooks for prime viewing, many trails and picnic areas and a helpful visitor center with an interactive museum.

Jump the fence and play on the cliffs. Excellent parkour and freeclimbing to be had!

I parked in the difficult run space off Georgetown Pike. You don't need to pay to get into that one :)
Walked for 3 hours all over the park on Sunday. It was amazing! Make sure you were appropriate shoes - saw a bunch of women in sandals and flipflops - you can't climb rocks in those!
They accept credit cards for the entry fee.

Park at Riverbend Park just down the road for free then hike to Great Falls Park via the roughly 2 mile long Mine Run Trail along the river. No fees, same great day!
Swamp trail is challenging, try it out.
Get out of the house, bring the dog and go for a nice relaxing walk.

For my oldest son's bar mitzvah, went hikeing the billy goat trail. Hired two guides (John Fishback is one.) Special back packs with their lunch/water provided. Bussed all from hotel to BG-location.
