Postcard perfect Sandy bottom beach, not common on the big island. Don't expect to see much for snorkeling, but we did have a sea turtle swim through our legs! Get here early as it's a popular spot!
White sand, clear and teal watered beach, with water so soft and comfortable you'll spend more time in than out. Check out the cave behind the southern lava rock face. You can wade to it in the water.
Gorgeous white sanded beach. Nice waves for boogie boarders and body surfers. Bring a lot of sunscreen and an umbrella - no shade on the beach. There are also picnic areas above the beach.
Surprisingly good snorkeling around the rocks in the middle-left of the beach, saw many large reef fish, Sea urchins, and even an eel. Water depth gets down to 12 feet or so at the far side.
Good sand beaches, but no real shade. Spencer beach is better and more comfortable. Body surfing and rip tides are the only two reasons to go to this beach.
There's a cool cove at N end of beach: walk N toward the hotel, then W along the trail at hotel lawn edge. Look down. There it is! Swim N just outside the cove for relatively neat & easy snorkeling.
Best beach I've ever been to. Sea turtles, boogie boarding, or just laying out make for a great afternoon. Don't forget your umbrella! There's no shade anywhere.
They do charge $5 for parking now but you can see, improvements have been made. Maybe it keeps the riff raff out. And yes, of course, THE best beach on the island!
Pretty white sand beach with shaded picnic table areas, food, and rentals a bit higher up. Saw some sea turtles!
Big white sand beach with big waves for boarding. However high incidence of spinal injuries because of high waves breaking close to shore. Food and rentals available@
If you can catch the sunset here, do it. Its also a great place for snorkeling on a white sandy beach.
Great beach for swimming and the sand is soft like powder. Finding shade can be a challenge though. Bring a beach umbrella or tent.
Amazing white sand beach. Lovely shallow shelving beach and clear but wavey water. Parking lot is close, costs $5. Boards can be hired.
There is a handicap access road on the left of the entrance. Very helpful for dropping off handicapable people who forgot their handicap placards.
By far the best beach on Hawaii! Bring a boogie board, the waves are amazing! No shade so bring your own if you need it.
Its not the only white sand beach by kona... But you def need an umbrella if youre a malihine or you will leave looking like a lobster
The only(?) white sand beach that's close to kona. Spend the day here and get food on your way back to kona at queen's mktplace.
This is a gorgeous, huge, beautiful white-sand beach! Visitors pay $5 (good all day), but it's worth it!
Park upper lot always. Side trail takes you right to restrooms and Beach. Stick to the rocks at left if any wind.
Amazing! White sand. Gorgeous water. And even though it is a popular spot, it's pretty big so it's not crowded.
Beautiful beach, but no shade, so bring the sunscreen and keep on applying it if you are a haole like me. Come early to claim a nice spot before the crowds arrive.
Wasn't quite white sand, more light brown. Sand was soft. Make sure to come when sun is out, overcast makes it look darker
Great snorkeling near the edges of the bay along the rocks. Don't get too close though!
Perfection. Snorkel toward the left and around the rocky point. Swim anywhere. Relax. Enjoy.
Beautiful sand, gorgeous colors, attentive lifeguards, plenty of parking.
Perhaps the best beach in the world. So good they charge for parking. $5
Really nice beach well maintained. Big mix of locals and tourists.
Come around 4:30 pm, theres less people and the sun isn't too hot. Nice breeze too.
The perfect beach for fun in the sun and surf - went on a Thursday afternoon and had plenty of room to relax
Hapuna Beach..Rarely anyone after dusk, so its amazing until gates close at 8pm.
Great for families. Pavilions, snack bar, and life guards.
For shade, come early and claim a spot by the rocks and trees.
Snorkeling on the north end was easier with lighter waves. Just skim further up the shoreline.
Got blasted with sand by the strong winds! Sit up on the grass if you don't need to exfoliate!!
Beautiful beach, $5 fee for non-residents
Nice beach! A little crowded but nice waves!
Best beach going ever!! Definitely some awesome waves out here!!
Great boogie boarding. No shade anywhere, so use sun block!
If your looking for a nice long white sanded beech, this is it.
Best boogie boarding on the island. Sand is amazing!
Ultra soft luxurious white sand beach - best I've been to so far:)
Beautiful water....,,all shades if blue!
Beautiful ocean, crashing waves, soft white sand.
If you someplace to relax and enjoy life, this is it.
$5 for parking?! Totally worth it.
15' waves today, boogie boards are a must have !
Nice beach for swimming and surf exercise.
One of the 2 Best Beaches in the Big Island beside Mauna Kea
Awesome fish tacos at the snack bar!
Ultimate Hawaiian beach. Just perfect!
