Opened in 1899, this is Houston's first park. As one of the first desegregated public golf courses in the US, the park is now one of Houston's most historically significant public green spaces.
Take a spin on the lake's pedal boats for just $9.

Houston's very own "Central Park".
Great place to run, bike, walk, or just relax!
The newly remodeled train depot area includes a gift shop and Little Bigs burger joint. Powered by ParentsConnect.com
The park is a great place for a picnic. Don't forget to check out the Japanese gardens.
One of the nicest parks I've seen in this country! It's a must visit!
Check out Bernard Venet's monumental cor-ten steel sculptures. (Installed throughout the park from January-October 2010.) Find all eight of 'em.
Nice Walking Trail
Do not miss the O. Jack Mitchell Garden area and its fountain (located between the Jones Reflection Pool and Miller Outdoor Theatre), or the Japanese Garden.
Med Center couriers / delivery drivers, find the 3-hour parking at the Almeda side between Holcombe and McGregor. Nice chill spot for us hard workers!
Hope you're enjoying your ride around the park. Take a pic and enjoy the scenery.
One of Houston's greatest treasures! Gorgeous ancient oaks!
Walk to the far side of the reflection pool and run through the sprinklers to cool off.
walk the park grounds. LIttle big sliders by the water.
Check out the art installations!
I love Herman Park!
The central hub is Hermann Park which is basically Houston’s Central Park. Folks come out here to picnic, ride pedal boats, see the Japanese Gardens, go to the zoo, and roll down Miller Hill.
On a nice day walk the trails, take a paddle boat ride, or grab a blanket and a book and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Project Manager Lindsay lives nearby and takes her dog here all the time. She loves to practice photography and feed the ducks. She usually ends up saving a turtle from time to time.
This is a great place to hangout when you're looking for a calm relaxing place. Also check out the zen garden, seeing the ducks and coyfish is amazing.
Check out Miller Outdoor Theater. Sit on the hill for FREE and bring a picnic. Opera, symphony, movie nights, theater, Shakespeare in the Park, and more.
Get to Miller Theater for some great opera. It's FREE!
The full size, eighteen-hole golf course is considered to be one of the city’s finest and most challenging.
Don't forget the kiddo's swimsuits! Two fun splash areas for kids...south end of reflecting pond and splash pad by the playgrounds.
If you're running the trail, keep in mind there's only one water fountain. Miller Outdoor Theater has several, though.
One of my very favorite places in Houston!
Plays, museums, and the zoo. This could have been Houston's Central Park.
Nice 2 mile run before sunset. It gets really dark with a lot of lamp posts out after.
Nice shaded trail to run/walk. Not super packed like Memorial. Lots of parking.
