Nice collection of Rodin works in the Sculpture Garden. "Burghers of Calais" pictured. Great place for a quiet stroll & conversation. Much less frenetic than National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.
So much fun to see the various types of art!
A less-visited (read: not as packed) Smithsonian museum showing great contemporary art in a great building.
National voice for global contemporary
Small museum with nice collection of modern art
The museum's central fountain, inspired by Old Faithful, surges with the ebb and flow of DC’s sewage system.
Wasn't my taste of art. But a very clean and open building.
Great Modern art collection in an impressive building
Favorite. Sculpture garden and multi-level modern art museum in the heart of the mall; usually overlooked since few people can figure out the entrance. Worth the detour.
Cool but just what it sounds like. :)
Do not miss this smaller D.C. museum; it's a real gem. Modern and abstract art reign supreme here. Excellent galleries. A real treat.
Very interesting and abstract ideas here. Make sure you don't get too close to sculptures or you'll get buzzed at.
Excellent video gallery here--really interesting and inspiring pieces of art.
Fantastic art here!
A wonderful gem of a museum!
Very very artsy and amazing architectural building.
So much to see, so much to think about! Great collection and fantastic building! Free entry.
Awesome Asian sculptures
Each floor is a giant loop, which means you always end where you began so there's no panic that you might've missed something.
Neat space, and a relatively new curator is doing a nice job with the selection.
Awesome time. Nice exhibits. Must see.
This free Smithsonian Institution houses international modern and contemporary art: Francis Bacon, Yoko Ono, Barbara Kruger, and dozens of others whose works sparks debate and wonderment.
They have lockers!! Great place to drop your stuff and explore the art unencumbered.
Nice view on the top floor!!!
Would wait for the next exhibit
The art of destruction is less interesting than the photos of the Detroit dentist building. http://iliketowastemytime.com/2012/01/05/frozen-in-time-ruins-of-old-detroit-photos
Don't miss this museum! So many fantastic contemporary art exhibits to see from artists like Andy Warhol and Ai WeiWei.
Check out the huge leather couch on the 3rd floor with a fabulous view of the Washington, D.C. skyline !!
There is a really awesome space called ArtLab+ for 13-19 yo in the hirshhorn sculpture garden to engage in digital arts and learn really cool skills. There's a 3d printer too!
Love this museum. I'm just a little sad that they removed The Cube Light. That was my favorite exhibit.
Don't miss the view from the balcony of the Lerner room on l3
Best place to charge your phone: top floor behind the escalators.
It was ok. liked the scuptures outside best.
Situated behind the Washington Mall, take in contemporary works of art by Matisse, Picasso and Pollock or relax in the sculpture garden with a cup of tea.
Get your Mary Lennox on and enjoy!
Great place if you like contemporary art
Great art! Totally worth a visit
worth a visit
Live to gift shop. Especially the jewelry.
The café on the garden is a great place to take a break after a long day!
If you like Modern and Contemporary Art, then this is a 'must see'. The purpose built facility is incredible and it's amazing that it's free!
Go early before the crowds arrive, and give yourself plenty of time to take it all in.
Leave your wish on the wishing trees in the sculpture garden. Installation courtesy Yoko Ono.
Great place to relax. Keep your kids off the sculptures, that's someone's art that they worked hard on.
Don't use a flash in this Museum. Check out the dark room panther exhibit. That's pretty wild. The light exhibits are looking spectacular.
The Cinema Effect exhibit was AWESOME! :) One of my faves of the Smithsonians on the Mall! Check it out! No need rush!
Despite what people say, THERE IS NO CAFE IN THIS BUILDING
