The best fish soup ever and the first time ever I saw so many people gathered at a single place! The way those guys work reminds a factory production - from the meals in line to the flying waiters!
Good place, yes it's touristy & loud but still fun. The pork knuckle, veal sausages & big pretzels are great. Dunkel beer is the BEST!! I do NOT recommend the apple strudel, MUCH better other places.
Best Pork Knuckle I've ever had with 1L Radler! Best combo. Friendly service. Lovely locals who helped me get service & order while we shared a communal table. Very busy. Large grp should book table.
A must do once in your life (at least!). Get a pretzel from the pretzel girls, listen to the oompa band, order a schnitzel, and enjoy the beer (I loved the Dark Radler in particular).
They might say this place is a tourist trap, but I had a great time: wonderful beer and food, fair price, decent service. Try blaukraut and a potato cake called knödel. 1st floor = no crowd.
An essencial in Munich. Bavarian tradition & history. Live music, funny place. Order a pretzel + some beers and shout "PROST!" when make a toast! Don't forget to go upstairs, at least to have a look!
The building itself is beautiful and they have a traditional band which makes for a nice atmosphere. Service isn't great and the food is below average. Augustiner HBhaus is significantly better.
If you want to write a book about the prototype of a TURIST TRAP you are at the best place for a study tour. Terrible service, horrible food. Lives from its history only, however...NEVER EVER TRY!
The place is really nice, the dishes are delicious and so is the beer! But make sure your order has been made properly, I was fooled by a waiter for 40min and had to ask to another one for a pint.
THe big Oktoberfest-style pretzels sold in the Schwemme by pretzl-girls are delicious. Kitchen is open till midnight or later, though a smaller menu is offered after 10pm. Get chicken and apfelstrudel
This world-famous beer hall is where you'll get the taste of true Greman brew (served in 1-liter steins) as well as local treats like veal sausage and pork roast. Just near central Marienplatz.
One of the best restaurants in Munich. Sit downstairs in the "Schwemme" for the real Bavrian HB feeling, or go upstairs to the equally authentic, quieter restaurant. Same kitchen! All food is great
Leave your hipster cool at the door and come in to have beer chugging singing fun! Order pork knuckle, obstler shots, pretzel, say prost, sing, drink and be merry. Tourist trap? Whatever! Fun!!
These people drink gallons of beer! They make Americans look like wimps. Great to visit during any World Cup. Amazing atmosphere of football fans. Everyone is friendly. Tip to Americans... Don't tip.
personal favorites: hendl (either half with potato salad or quarter with a delicious salad), leberknödelsoup, haxn. get a side of reiberknödel! The apple strudel is a MUST for dessert - best Ever
Huge beer hall, the must-go place when in Munich. Home for the world-famous beer HB, make sure you've spotted the toilets BEFORE you start drinking. Too bad there's always plenty of tourists...
Among all historically significant details related to this place, the coolest thing is that there is a separate room with personalized beer glasses of some, so called, members of Hofbräuhaus.
After drinking the beer , u' ll understand that what the beer is! Meals are tasty and delicious! The stuffs are great! The music is traditional ! U' ll love it! The best place in Munich !
Very touristic! Could be really crowded and noisy. You might find a seat upstairs on the terrace, its a bit calmer. Good beer! They dont accept credit card, this is unacceptable for a touristy place
When in Munich this is where you have to go!! First order a Maß of beer and then choose anything from the menu, you won't be disappointed!! Waiters can sometimes be a little rude..
Server brought one of our tablemate's a wrong dish & then he tried to claim that it was the correct dish (imagine a waiter trying to convince you that a cheeseburger was in fact a slice of pizza).
No visit to Munich is complete without a visit at this famous "Wirtshaus". Ask for the price of a locker for you mug :-) In summer I prefer the small beer garden in the back.
Just walk in, find a table, share it. Wait for waiters or waitress to take your order. It is rude to raise your hand and wave at them to beckon them over. Degrading. Radler is great.
Good city center alternative to beer houses at the Octoberfest Grounds, Theresienwiese where its difficult to get in especially when you are late during the day. Octoberfest food with live band.
This is centrally located icon and a must for visitors. There is a shop for souvenirs whether you drink there or not. The atmosphere is pure fun and enjoyment
Great place to eat and drink beer with a traditional environment. Be careful with the menu, you could have a great dinner o get disappointed. Anyway, enjoy!!
You can't miss with this classic Bavarian Bräuhaus! Even if u're in München for just a few hours, you've gotta check it out! Get beer (1L) and giant pretzels!
Must check this place out. Traditional Bavarian beer house with very good food and live music. The place is huge, but always very crowded and extremely noisy!
Worst place in all of Germany. Rude waiters who don't know their menu. If you must go, go for 1 overpriced beer & a song & then go somewhere else like the Chinesischer Turm in the Englischer Garten.
Great music, a bit of octoberfest ambiance during the year is always good! The food is average... May be because it is very touristic
This place is the HEAVEN of the beer! Good food and also live typical music. You cannot find a place like this anywhere. If you're in town, don't miss it!
Very touristy, but worth a visit. The veal sausage is tasty but the locals recommend removing the skin. Also, it comes in water, it's not soup! Don't drink it!
Totally touristy but fun, in a kitschy sort of way. Very busy on a Saturday night, so we just raised our hand when we needed to flag the waiter- totally worked!
It's a must if you are in Munich even if it's crowded and all tourists come here, also for the shady history in the 1930-s
Very big place a bit crowdy and loudy but if you come to Munich you defenitely have to drink a beer here! This is the oldest brewery in town!
Good atmosphere (although touristy) with famous beer. However, food and beer are more expensive than other beer gardens around for similar quality.
A must if First time in Munich!!! Very touristic tough and the service is not always that great... Recommend the famous Schweinshaxe and " a maß"
If you're not visiting during Oktoberfest, then this is the next best thing with beers sold by the litre along with half-chickens and giant pretzels.
Take the left entrance to get to the second floor of Hofbräuhaus. It's way quieter up there, less touristy, service is better and the view a lot nicer.
Great atmosphere and lively people. I'm not a massive fan of the Hof beers compared to Franziskarner and Augusteiner but still wonderful stuff
Food and bier 11/10. Atmosphere 7/10 - slightly ruined by tour groups passing through. Service 5/10 - slow. Overall worth a visit.
Worth the trip to Germany for a REAL BEER GARDEN!!!WATCH OUT FOR CRAZY DRUNK AUSTRAILIANS DANCING ON TABLES....have a traditional Bavarian dinner in the great hall up stairs, head down stairs for a ta
After we changed table and got a proper server, we surely enjoyed the beer and roasted pork :) Delicious!
After getting some one to fill for the late server, the waiter only came to order our beer. He insincerely apologized, and said his colleague's coming in15mins-Another 15m before we can order food!!!
No server serving our table and our area for 20mins!!! No other waiter or waitress even stopped to talk to us, just waved and left. Horrible service and rude people:(
You HAVE TO eat the pork knuckle! And the maxi pretzel is fabulous too. It's not very expensive (€20 disch and beer)
Great beer and good food, a little overpriced on the food end though. Good for big groups!
Try the potato soup, it's out of this world! And the Apfelstrudel is absolutely divine :)
Obligatory stop whenever you visit Monaco! Find a table and sit down...go on the safe with pork shank and a pint of beer!
It was worth it, them German beers are far out, also try the local Paulander brew if you visit Munich
