Headed to see a show at nearby Webster Hall, Mercury Lounge, or Irving Plaza? Hit up this place for crazy good ramen and out of this world pork buns.

My favorite ramen place in the east village! Eating here once will change your perception of ramen noodles from an essential part of every poor college student's diet to a fantastic, delicious meal!

Everything is delicious. Best Ramen noodles in NYC by far. Try the Akamaru Modern with Nitamago (soft boiled egg) and a side of Bakudan (spicy paste.) You'll be glad you did.

Vegetarians- get the Wasabi Ramen (with a spiced egg and their homemade spicy paste if you like some heat). The mascarpone dessert is good, but I liked the macha creme brûlée much better

Make sure to try Maguro Tuna and pork buns for appetizer. Classic ramen has thick, rich soup; Modern is more fragrant and oily; Spicy one is wonderful is you could stand the heat!

For the fall season, they decided to try something unusual for NYC's ramen scene, debuting Atsumori Tsukemen, a dipping-style ramen that's not found at most ramen-yas on this side of the Pacific. Read more

I always forget how great the ramen is. And how full you are after since the broth is so rich. Love the Akamaru Modern with a poached egg. Most importantly, don't skimp out on the pork belly buns

My first time having ramen, and I'm happy it was in here! Already the fried chicken buns would be worth the normal two-hour wait (arrived 5pm and were seated in 10mins). Ramen was fresh and tasty too!

The franchise promotes themselves as a restaurant that 'transformed ramen into art.' Here in NYC, we are very fortunate to have two locations here: one in the East Village and one in Midtown.

After a lively and surprising welcome from staff upon being seated, service is on point and ambiance energetic. Shishito peppers are a must with a sake cocktail to start. Veggie Ramen is outstanding!

This is the best ramen place in NYC. If you get there before noon, you can avoid the longer waits. For appetizers, go for the pork buns and the wings. The wings are finger licking good.

Ippudo was brought to NYC by Shigemi Kawahara, who is known as "the Ramen King" in Japan; his rich, cloudy tonkotsu broths draw the longest lines the city's ramen-ya, and they're well worth the wait. Read more

Did you know that one little pork bun has over 420 calories and 25 grams of saturated fat? Pro-tip: try the equally delicious Hamachi Goma-Shoyu sashimi instead. Your body will totally thank you. Read more

The pork bun is a must have. The tonkotsu broth is sensational. The essence of pork is more present at Daikokuya in LA but the broth here is more nuanced. Hard to pick between them for best tonkotsu.

This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in New York. The service is amazing, the food is unlike anywhere else, and the atmosphere is fun and lively. You will not be disappointed.

Get this. Akamaru Modern - silky "Tonkotsu" (pork) soup noodles topped w/ Ippudo's secret "Umami Dama" miso paste, pork chashu, cabbage, sesame kikurage mushrooms, scallions, & fragrant garlic oil

Get the akamaru modern if it's your first time -- by far the most popular. Otherwise, the spicy miso ramen at the bottom of the menu. And obviously, you need to the pork buns. Better than momofuku.

give ur name/# to hostess, go nearby to get a drink, buzztable app then tells u when u should come back. Order pork buns, Kirin draft, any ramen. Add kakuni and spicy paste. Rub tummy!

Delicious. Best pork buns I've ever had. Pictures is the akamaru modern ramen. Also great. However, i like my ramen spicier so if I go back I would order a spicier ramen.

Definitely one of the best ramen joints in the city. Wait times can be longish, but stick it out. It's worth it. The pork buns are fantastic, and you can't go wrong with the Akamaru Modern ramen.

best ramen and pork buns in new york! personally love the shiromaru hakata classic. just make sure to come early (especially on the weekend) because it fills up quickly.

The service was amazing and the ambience was great. The ramen was good; however, I still prefer Toto ramen. Oh, be prepared to wait!

Great scene, great vibe. The Akamaru Modern Ramen was off the charts, as were the pork and shrimp buns. Don't take res but they have a cool bar up front for while you wait (and it's worth the wait)

Bomb food! Get there when it opens to put your name on the list. Usually about a 2-3 hour wait for dinner. But you can leave your number and go to a bar near by while you wait. Worth it. Promise.

Yes, it's the crowd favorite & it's really good. Gotta give some love to the others first, but if you're a patient group or a hungry single eater you're in good shape to get a coveted bowl of Ippudo!

Group of 4 and we ordered: Hirata Chicken, Hirata Pork Buns (2x), Umami Mekyabetsu (Brussel Sprouts), and then each got our Ramen (I got Akamaru Modern w/toppings). Perfect amount, amazing as always!

If you see that the special for the day is the Wasabi Ramen, order it! If not, the Akamaru Modern is my favorite. Do not, whatever you do, neglect to order the green tea ice cream + cheese dessert.

I tried spicy ramen 🍜 with extra hot sauce Bakudan and loved it. Everyone is shouting Japanese words in here. The taste and the energy is great. Long wait times 👎🏼 They don't accept reservations.

The Akamaru Modern is the most popular. Silky broth and aromatic garlic oil coats the super-thin, elastic noodles. Tender pork chasu, cabbage, sesame kikurage mushrooms, & scallions are placed atop.

Akamaru Ramen with their special egg was awesome. One of the best authentic ramen restaurants in Japan now in other countries. I also like their tea and bean sprouts appetizer free on the table.

The spicy ramen here is overwhelming, not in a good way. I recommend getting the pork bun and eel over rice. Totto Ramen has the best spicy ramen in NYC - it's a longer wait, but worth it.

I won't be joining the Ippudo cult, but do concede that the pork in my bowl of ramen was the best I've had yet, and the pork buns were better than Momofuku Ssam's. Come alone to avoid waiting forever.

The wait is worth the time: went back for the 5th time and still the best IMO. Try the wasabi soyu ramen (vegan): really nice! The soup is not pork broth, just clear soup but very nice.

Still the best. Worth the ludicrous wait. (Just pop around the corner for a drink at Black & White.) Warning: don't over-do it on starters bc you cannot take home items you're unable to eat!
