Established in 1996 on historic Sixth Street the Iron Cactus Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar has been serving contemporary Mexican cuisine for over 18 years. We draw our inspiration for our cuisine from various regions in Mexico. The Iron Cactus can be found in 5 locations across Texas...
Food was really good, HOWEVER, drinks were SUB STANDARD. Martinis were not filled to the rim like martinis are supposed to. My group ordered 4 chocolate martinis and the they had a shots worth of liqu
Can't go wrong with crab fritter nachos and shrimp enchiladas. Flan is awesome.
Table side guacamole is great. Cocktails are very tasty. Veggie fajitas with black beans and cilantro rice is a great vegan option. Other beans and rice are not vegetarian.
Pricey, but probably worth it. Grilled fish tacos are good, but with fries? Tamale pops - yes!
Cabo chicken sandwich was awesome!
Great brunch deal but really slow service. Go for bottomless mimosas on Sunday (obviously).
Solid tequila bar. They have a decent Sunday brunch for cheap too
Delicious! Good view from the rooftop!
Perfect rooftop bar to people watch on 6th during SXSW. The queso is a great app to share and the margaritas will keep you cool on a hot day.
Avoid the queso compuesto. It's literally melted velveeta cheese. Gave me a tummy ache all day!
Bland, overpriced food, some of it was cold and other parts were rubbery and overcooked. The drinks promised to be strong, but did not deliver. Only real positive was the pleasant, attentive staff.
Very good margaritas, nice atmosphere despite the noise, but then again, I was there during SXSW, maybe it's quieter the rest of the year.
The tacos and chips are the best.
Amazing Mexican food. You've got to try the fresh Guacamole! Liked the lobster tacos, too!
Everything is good, but those nachos with steak... 😍
Great food and a fantastic tequila menu!
Baja Fish Tacos were good, but the fish pieces were too big. Make them smaller and put in a couple. Not one big one. House Margarita was excellent. Good chips y salsa.
Great food! The carne guisada was great...
Mexican food is nothing special but located right on Sixth Street.
Get The Lobster Tacos. They are amazing! Also their sangria is pretty unique with a touch of cinnamon. ;)
Best Mexican food around these here parts.
Here with daughter her hubby ,grandson me and my Kenny
Fajitas are the bomb!
It's not too busy on weekdays. Good place to eat some chips and drink while passing the time.
Awesome all you can eat brunch. Consider it a challenge.
This is the only restaurant I've been to where the gluten free menu is already on the table when you sit down. Kudos!
Best margaritas in Austin. Great good and table side guacamole.
GREAT Sunday brunch and reasonably priced!
If you're here for Mexican Martinis, save your money. They are not well balanced, too acidic. Try Trudy's, their original is far better.
Guac guac guac guac tequila
Favorite recovery spot in Austin
Here is another tip the manager is an asshole if you have a complaint don't bother speaking with him first & last time here!
For Sunday Brunch it's $15 the waitress lied to me & told me that the bottomless mimosa was included it's an additional $7 salty ass bacon too many other good restaurants in Austin to eat here again
This place is wonderful! Free chips and salsa. Have the salmon and fried avacado. Sit on the rooftop.
Get the refried pinto beans.
The guacamole is to die for. You must try it! They make it right before your eyes!
Not amazing service. Also awkward seating if not at the bar.
do not try to get seated with one missing from your party .. do not try to bring in water - they think it's vodka .. this is a business dyk .. good meatloaf good queso nice patio
I just ordered a "top shelf" margarita for $6. San Francisco this is not!
Order the guacamole. A guy comes over with a variety of ingredients and makes the guacamole to your standards the entire time. Excellent and yummy.
Strawberry cactus margarita and ahi tuna ceviche. Amazing. Right in the middle of the busiest block on 6th street. This place kicks ass
Margaritas are not GREAT. But $3 at happy hour so go for it!
I knew a wrestler by this same name. Sadly, when his special move, “Hug of a Thousand Needles,” proved a little too effective, he was forced to become the markedly less fearsome “Satin Willow.”
