There is a very good collection of ancient times in here. The "sarcophagus" part is stunning. However there is some sort of restoration in progress, so a few parts of the museum are closed to public.

Well for me the Archeology Museums have always been one of the first places I visit wherever possible. As they reflect the cultural, historical depth of that country and the civilizations it produced.

The museum is under construction but still awesome. Have a cup of coffee at the café in the garden. The waiters are very respectful and the one with the glasses is very cute! 🙊😋

First peace treaty and first love poem are among the very rare pieces being exposed in Istanbul archeology museum. Building is currently under full renovation. Only part of the collection is visible.

One of the most "must" place in Istanbul for both tourists and locals. Keep in mind that place is really big and takes a lot time to finish : )

The best museum in Istanbul. I went there 3 times. Its really big. The most interesting part is the mitologic one and the graves. The grave of Alexander, the biggest one is inside .

You would need at least 3 days to cover all halls. But even if you stay for only one hour do not miss the gold gilded room within the Çinili Köşk that was built more than 500 years ago.

If you are in Istanbul, I would recommend spending some hours in the museum. The exhibits, especially from the bronze and Iron Ages, were spectacular.

The compound also accommodates another museum inside which the original Hittite copy of the Treaty of Kadesh. Ungortunately, the main hall was being renovated during our visit.

This significant complex is home to 3 centers: the Archeology Museum, the Tiled Kiosk of Sultan Ahmet and the Museum of the Ancient Orient. They provide a rich collection of a long period of time.

Vast museum; great potential but construction works tend ruin your visit; highlights are the treaty of Kadesh, Karaman mihrab and Alexander sarcophagus (currently unavailable); museum cafe is terrible

Not that impressive. One of the buildings was closed, and the open ones had little A/C. We had also already visited the Anatolian civilization museum in Ankara, as well as Troia. Lot of rehashing.

A lot of history to see, I would say more than in Hagia Sophia and topkapi... Also, For science don't waste your time with the Islamic science and tech and the maritime museum. Go to Rahmi M. Koc!

Guards literally kick you out any time after lunch (like at 15:40 today). Personal not speaks English, and can't tell what is open and till when. And most part is closed. Better visit Athens or Paris.
