Get a bottle of shozu late at night or on Tues. at half price. If you don't finish they will put your name on it and keep it behind the bar for next time. Try some fresh fruit mixers with it.
An excellent Chelsea izakaya; grab beers before you dive into the menu's cooked dishes, like takoyaki or monkfish liver.
A stellar newcomer with a stylish design, wonderful staff, an authentic, inventive Japanese pub menu, and WOW what a sake collection! The sushi is serviceable, but it's not the main attraction.
Very quiet and intimate shochu & saké bar near London Terrace Gardens. Mini Uni Ikura Don & Aji cucumber sashimi salad r my best 🍣🍶.
Enjoy the great music and food at this classic Japanese Izakaya.
Spicy tuna rolls are supeb. You should try them.
The buta kimchee is amazing. Order it with rice to soak up the juices!
Fave = yakitori with salt.
You can buy bottles of sake or shochu and they save the leftovers for your next visit.
Get the Lichee martini - best in NYC!
Ridiculously awful service. Our waiter messed up every order for our party of 6 and took forever to correct it.
Pork ramen is delicious. It is kind of small though.
Do not miss out on the buta kimchi.
Buta Kim chi!!!!! Uh-mazing!!!!!!!!!!!
The fried oysters? Yes please! And split some 300ml bottles of sake with friends and you'll leave feeling fine...
Try the Funaguchi -- premium sake in a can. Each $12 can pours two full glasses -- perfect to share, the best deal in the house besides Shochu Tuesday ($20 off all bottles).
Go to Izakaya Ten and stuff yourself silly with fried octopus. Get the shark fin for the hell of it. Sit at the bar and ask for a shochu tasting. Get hammered.
Get some sake and have a blast! Try the chicken meatballs, fried chicken, soft shell crab (if available), and save some space for the delicious green tea mochis
Sit at the bar, buy a bottle of sake or shochu, if you can't finish it write your name on a label and come back late (within 3 months of course).
The food here is surprisingly good. Order the Korean style pork, the eel sushi and the tuna sashimi. I miss my old hang out in the hood!!
Shared the buta kimchi with a side of rice to soak up the sauce based on past tips and it was the best thing we had all.night. Sushi is middle of the road, best roll we tried was spicy crunchy scallop
Order a bottle of sochu or sake and if you don't finish, they'll keep it in house for 3 months...kampai!
Order the spicy tuna roll or chicken teriyaki
Look for hot guys on Gossip Girl
Get the soft shell crab karaage if you see it on the menu
Try to squeeze yourself into a taller, narrower shape before you enter.
Buta Kimchi is NOT good! Avoid and get the real thing in ktown.
Drinks are great, food is meh...try the izakaya royal cocktail, my new fave!
Have the Yaki Udon. Amazing!
Big fan of the hamachi kama grilled yellowtail collar and the tako wasa (raw octopus marinated with wasabi). Impressive sake and sochu menu too!
Pork kimchi is where it's at! Spicy and flavorful. Very friendly crew. Busy place, but pretty accommodating in trying to get you a seat. Obvi a great sake menu.
Amazing place- get lychee martini is the best !!
Exceptional blackened cod.
The fish was really good! Yaki shio Saba.
Have the Mori Set. Also the Black Cod.
A small and Intimate sake house. Must order the eel dynamite and black cod. if you eat Uni get it in sushi, top it off with a quail egg it makes all the difference!!
Spicy shrimp with cod roe and spicy cucumber are awesome. They don't accept Amex which is a drawback.
Michio at the bar, half Brazilian half Japanese, is tops!
The octopus is a great appetizer if you are a little adventurous. Wasabi is mild and tastes great. Ordered it the last 3 times here!
Pricey hit or miss spot - was excited for the buta kimchee based on all the tips but was incredibly disappointed. Came burned as did 2 other dishes. Chilean sea bass was the only saving grace.
and so is grilled shrimp with spicy cod roe!
stir fry beef is really good.
Don't worry to be overwhelmed by the sake menu. Just ask ;)
Great specials but they don't accept American Express.
Good solid list of sake, Sapporo on tap cheap, hamachi Kama, sushi ten (slightly on small side), fried octopus dusted with green tea powder and scallop maki! Good stuff!
They don't take Amex, which is ok.. But I don't understand why there is an Amex special available to unlock at the restaurant. Dodgy.
