These gardens are a well-kept San Antonio secret, but they're beautiful and free. If you're making a special trip, call ahead as they sometimes close for special events.

With various flowers, waterfalls, and trees, the Japanese Tea Gardens serves as an excellent location for wedding shoots, senior portraits, prom photos, and more! Daily tours are offered as well.

Though well-hidden and, during the summer months, hot, these beautiful gardens are the secret gem of the San Antonio park scene. The park houses several plaques explaining its rich history.

This is an amazing place and will alway be a favorite because the love of my life proposed to me here on 9/24/11! Don't miss the beautiful pavilion view. Don't feed the wildlife though!

Definitely a nice place for the price (it's free) because I probably wouldn't pay to come here more than once. It's got nice walkways and greenery but the pond would greatly benefit from a little TLC.

Beautiful... But can be very hot if you go at the wrong time. Bring water and some type of shade... For example: cap or an umbrella... :-)

Take a moment to relax in the shade of the rock house which is the oldest standing structure in this lush garden, built in 1915 by artist Kimi Eizo Jingu.

Lovely and peaceful, even on a Sunday afternoon. The flowers were not particularly exotic but the design of the gardens was beautifully done.

Not the most typical thing to do when in San Antonio, but well worth a look. Small crowds make this place feel more special.
