    It comprises about 6 square city blocks. San Francisco's Japantown is the largest and oldest such enclave in the United States. Only 3 even remain in the US (the others being in LA & San Jose)

    In 1957 SF entered in a sister city relationship Osaka--hence the nickname "Little Osaka". Osaka is SF's oldest sister city. A block of Buchanan St, in Japantown, was renamed Osaka Way on Sept 8, 2007

    Lots of great Japanese food and shops. Visit Japan Center. Lots of stationery shops and beautiful ceramics. Don't forget to wander about outside too. Great Japanese food!

    go here and walk around - make sure you go to the japanese sticker booths shop. they have imported sticker booth machines.

    Arriving here via BART is annoyingly difficult; you can either take the 38 and put down another $2, or walk for 30 minutes.
