Make sure you have your money ready to get a pass to exit the Airtrain. Buy your MTA pass too.

One track has trains coming in T1→T8 direction, ending at either Howard Beach/Jamaica as final stop. The other track has a train circling airport terminals only in T8→T1 direction.

Getting to Manhattan. When u take the Airtrain to this station, u need to pay $5 to get out. At the kiosk, u can get an MTA train ticket to do that, AND top up $2.75 to take the E line into Manhattan

The train goes to Terminal 1 first; if you're going to Terminal 8 or 7, hop off at T1 and cross to the other line in the other direction.

The BEST way to get to JFK. Take the LIRR from Penn to Jamaica and take the AirTran right to your terminal for $13.25 in about an hour. Free between terminals.

The train goes to terminal 1 and then 2. Terminal 8 will be the last stop. Switch to the other track at terminal 1 for faster access to terminal 8. Time is money :D
