The runway is a lot shorter than most airports so bigger planes can't land here. If you come in on a 737, the braking will be intense. They won't tell you this and it will seem scary, but it's normal!

Clean and bright. There are not enough places to eat and drink. It is worth buying a day pass to the Admiral club if you are looking to relax with a drink. CPK is available to go.

Oasis for sit-down, Brioche Doree for takeaway. Always a huge line at Starbucks. Standards like McDonalds, Hudson News + unique shops for candy/gifts and a "Life is Good" store. Easy, well-laid out. Read more

Jerry's Wood-Fired Dogs in Terminal C (near gate 12) serves up tasty sausages & hot dogs ... with unlimited toppings! Burgers & salads too. Skip the fries, get the fresh hot potato chips. :)

If you need to catch the parking lot shuttle and your flight arrived at Terminal C, you don't have to walk to the shuttle area. The shuttles also stop in front of Terminal C, in the red stripes.

spicy chex mix at the hudsonn news across from gate 10 is good. people seem to leave 'stuff' at the security gate as they are constantly calling people to pick up their stuff. rather entertaining...

If you are getting a sandwich at Brioche Doree, have them put it through the toaster twice. It doesn't fully heat up the first time and for a 10$ sandwich, it is worth getting it right.

By far the best of the three L.A. area airports. The rental car building is across the street but returning a car takes a while (place is a zoo, plan ahead). Poor food options and horrendously bad AC

Word to the wise: get out your laptop, take off your shoes and belt, and don't stand there holding up the security line if you want to get on your plane with as little irritation as possible.

If you have time to kill and are a wine enthusiast, check out Vino Volo. Great wine list and availability of tasting flights. Makes that full throttle take off just that bit more fun.

If you have a bag small enough to put under your seat, put it under your seat and save room for large carryon bags in the overhead. A purse or laptop not a large bag, please - get a clue.

John Wayne has 2 diff checkpoints into the main terminal building within walking distance of each other. you can use either regardless of your actual terminal or gate. if one's packed, try the other.

What a beautifully clean airport - because it is regional & smaller it is so much nicer than LAX. People are friendly too. And you have to love the statue of John Wayne in the foyer!

Starbucks between gates 16 and 17. As with most airports, they don't scan Starbucks cards off your iPhone, but if you read the numbers to them you'll still get credit for that latte!

Creative Croissants (gate 5/6) has good sandwiches & service is fast/friendly. My preferred airport breakfast! Bacon is good/crispy - not flimsy microwave kind. Only drawback is Pepsi not Coke.

Make sure you visit Hobie's if you're looking for a good place to have a beer and some appetizers. I recommend the teriyaki & pineapple quesadilla with a Goose Island IPA.

Terrible airport if you prefer to walk. If you want to walk to one of the hotels across the street you'll find that SNA was designed to strongly discourage hoofing it. F*ck your Beemers, Prozac Babies

Skip the Starbucks unless you're looking for a whole lot of attitude with your coffee. Hands down three of the surliest baristas you'll ever meet. What an unpleasant start to a cross country trip

Keeping liquids in checked baggage is always your best bet, but if you aren’t checking luggage, predetermine how much liquid security allows and plan ahead to avoid losing your favorite shampoo!

Lovely airport, but horrible for disabled travelers. I saw no employees offer to help people in wheelchairs, too many steps & not enough ramps, and assisting the blind was a feat for 3 TSA agents.

One of TeamTRI's favorite airports. Takeoffs are awesome. Statue of the Duke is sweet. Rental cars onsite. Freeway access fast and easy. And, House of the Mouse is close!

If you're in Terminal C but there's a line at security, walk over to Terminal B. It's a short, pleasant walk on both sides of security and there is rarely as long of a wait.

No matter what airline your fly, make sure you're at the gate 45 minutes to an hour prior to departure. Doors close 10 minutes prior to departure. Airplanes don't wait for you, YOU wait for airplanes.

Tsa never uses to care about whether you left your toiletries in your bag. Some hard ass must run them here now because if you leave them in, be prepared to wait quite a bit

The valet is only good if you are in a huge rush to make your flight and don't mind waiting for-ev-er when you get back. Getting your car back takes 10x longer than if you parked yourself!

Plenty of benches available after security checkpoint. Grab you stuff and put your shoes on there. Don't be a dink and start getting dressed on the x-ray line.

SNA has some of the most stringent noise rules in US because of its close proximity to residential areas. Mon-Sat: 7am-10pm (departures), 11pm (arrivals). Sun: 8am-10pm (departures), 11pm (arrivals).

When dropping a young-in & u have passenger walking them to the gate, once you let them out, make your way down to the 1st level arrivals parking lot. It will make your exit WAY more efficient.

If you are renting a car here, bring a flashlight with you! The garage is dimly lit, so it's difficult to check for damage to the vehicle before you drive out.

Do security at any terminal. It's all connected. Eat at food court near gates 12-14 before hitting 15 - nice area. Love this airport even if the airlines piss me off

Rudest Southwest employees ever. If they ask if you have anything fragile, they are not being courteous. They are trying to shake you down for more money or confiscate your fragile item. Lie...

Take-off and landing are a little rough due to noise restrictions, best bet is hard candy or a lollipop to help with clogged ears. Much better then gum.

Parking in the garage but afraid of losing the entry ticket during your trip? Just use your credit card upon entry! When ready to head out, just use the same credit card at the exit. Saves time/trees

If your flight is after 8 am, you really only need to arrive at the airport an hour at most before your flight (unless of course something unusual happens)

Be very careful at this airport. Of all the places I fly in and out of this is the only one where I've seen Nazi behavior. Totally ludicrous. I avoid it like the plague. Really!

The entire experience of arriving/departing John Wayne Airport is SO much better than LAX. Especially if you're renting a car! Plus the short runway reminds me of aircraft carrier flight ops.

If you're flying in and didn't check luggage, don't go downstairs to baggage claim, exit at the same level and have your party pick you up on the departures level.✈

TSA is sometimes pushy about trying to convince me to skip manual screening vs going thru X-ray. I have medical reasons but they're still pushy "why not go thru? It's faster!"

Small airport, but in central Orange County. More expensive usually to fly in here, but worth it to avoid LA traffic sometimes. Not many things to do in airport. McDonalds and Starbucks, but that's it

Power outlets are "hidden" between seat rows (between the 2 opposite backrests). There is signage that tells you that, but I've never noticed 'till today :)

Even if you are close to LAX, take John Wayne into consideration. The lines are 10 times shorter, and everyone just so much more relaxed.

Easy in and out airport. Valet parking is good and just a little more than self parking. Try Javier's or vino volovo for food.
