Themed cafe at the City Library, open 7 days.
Pretty expensive for a small plate of pasta. The food was good but not spectacular
Lovely welcoming staff. Great long black. Good selection of newspapers for some reading, and a cozy warming atmosphere. Perfect cafe!
right next door to city library and interesting layout and environment
Avocado toast is not bad. ( simple dish) Just on a slightly pricey end.
Chai et bruschetta
Sure the service isn't great, but the food and ambiance is superb. Get a bruschetta (try to prosciutto + feta) and a coffee, read the paper, it's all good
The 'new' soupwich is the bomb - soup of the day served with a toastie. It's sometimes hard to find a comfortable café for one, but this place accommodates lone diners and readers very well.
Sandwiches were good.
Great cheese omelette
Try the meal of the day. Always delicious.
My new fave coffee hang. Great atmosphere, good coffee
Just worked out that John has made me coffees in Melbourne for two decades. Exceptional coffee. Such a fabulous place!
Great spot to have a coffee and break, but not the best value: one piece of pumpkin bruschetta, one cheese and tomato baguette, 3 chais and one coffee = $40!
My choc croissant came on a warm plate. That sums it up.
Nice atmosphere but the menu is pretty limited as far as breakfast options go. I had vegemite on toast and the coffee was good but a large coffee is small
If you swing that way, try the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice!
Has to be the worst coffee I have had in Melbourne
Love the ambiance! Feels like you're transported back to the '50s-'60s (or at least that's how I imagine it'd be like).
Horrible coffee. Bruschetta was good though
Great chai, a real contender for no.1
Suckling Pig Lasagne - recommended by The Age Melbourne Mag
The coffee is the best I've tried in Melbourne and that's saying something. No egg breakfasts though.
I ravvvv this place. Funky ;) & the sticky date is worth the numerous visits !!!
Have the avocado on toast...light & delish! Recommend with a cute raven-haired man as a side dish :D
Very good macchiato
Simple, easy and a great space to read the newspaper.
Soy chai lattes are generally good.
I am told this is one of the best cafes in Melbourne. I must come for a cup next time I'm down under.
Buy a $2.50 piece of toast or a bottle of water and you've paid the annual rent on the premises for them :-)
i agree: disappointing. service was laughable.
This cafe has lost it's mojo. Once good now disappointing
If you like your coffee served hot remind them when placing your order... once... twice... maybe even three times.
Avocado and lemon on sourdough only $6.50 - cheaper than Mr Tulks and tastier
Delicious spy chai lattes
The best coffee in Flinders Lane
Some of the best coffee in town made by Jon's loving hands.
Amazingly yummy bruschetta! I recommend the Avocado & Lemon. Their Chai is pretty damn fine as well!
Three course degustation of Rosa Mitchell's sumptuous Sicilian fare, and Barry Dickins for company. MasterChef may have finished, but we're just beginning.
My fave place in Melbourne for a coffee - great avo & lemon bruschetta & LOVE the white bean and tuna salad.
Their Long Macciato is simply sublime, one of the best cafés in Melbourne.
Tuna whitebean salad every time
avocado bruchetta, mmm
Apple Danish is awesome
Ask not to have the paper placed under the food! Why do cafe's insist on this???? YUK
Good coffee and library style benches make for good magazine, newspaper reading or flipping open the laptop.
Tsing Tao long necks for $10.50 are a great way to cap off a day in town.
