The oldest gay bar in NYC. Around so long it's a hip dive again. Julius' has the widest age range of clientele, from twinks to men probably here when it first allowed gays in the 1960s. Great burgers!
Historic, classic, campy gay bar
Fun crowd and super strong drinks! And of course, still serving the burgers and fries you need when you want a bite!
Great local crowd, cheap strong drinks, and a great dose of civil rights history. One of my new favorites.
This place is fun because you can see all the people in your neighborhood and get boozy.
Split mozzarella sticks with that guy you just met up at the bar.
Very good place to be really good/bad ;)
Fun, chatty gay bar ... that serves burgers!
Nothing is good here. The manger is an asshole avoid this bar at all costs.
A friendly and nice place to hangout with the locals
NYC oldest gay bar! Decent priced drinks and awesome hotdogs for 2 bucks.
MATACHINE NIGHT IS THE PLACE AND EVENT TO BE AT!
The oldest, and arguably, nicest gay bar in New York City. The food is great, the drinks are decent, but please leave your straight friends elsewhere, unless you're having a birthday(!). Thank you.
Treat Bill and Tracy like family - they are. Wonderful place and the only calm #gay bar in #NYC.
All around friendliest bar in the city!
Great Bar, Fries and Chickhen Tenders.. Happy Hour $3.00 for any Drink...
Billy is a great bartender! Burgers are outta site!
order a double the drinks are a bit weak.
Best burgers in town!! Interesting photos and history of New York City's first gay bar. :)
There are outlets throughout the bar where you charge your phone.
For the older crowd (average age last night was around 55), but fun, casual, non-cruisy, with seating and a 80's jukebox.
Good foods and drinks.
You don't have to press "P" to play your song. Just the artist and song number. See teh sign for more info.
Trashy food. Pervy old men. History.
ZOMG ham Mac and cheese!!! Get it!
Established as bar 1864 in building from 1826. Allegedly oldest Greenwich Village bar and oldest gay bar (since 1950s). Site of gay activist 'sip ins' in the 1960s.
My wifi works here. Sext me for the password.
Play song #5211
Come for the good burgers at lunchtime and listen to the older guys from the neighborhood banter. Gem of a dive and an important piece of history.
Not only do they have the best burgers, they have sports in tv, great jukebox, and you can actually have a decent conversation with some interesting people:)
I'm the youngest bitch here lol. and the bartender has hot abs lol
Great burgers and great place to go if you are looking for something low key in the village.
The grilled cheese rocks!
Best burgers around ... :-)
Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Sure, it's a gay bar, but this dingy old survivor is more masculine than 90 percent of the straight bars in America.
Ask for Eric. And give him your dollars!
Live Jazz today May 2nd
Don't go on a Tuesday. There's a busker standing by the jukebox who'll sing City of New Orleans and You're So Vain. Without irony.
