2010 Best of Houston® Winner: Best New Restaurant: The delectable panko-crusted lamb lollipops with ginger sauce that are as fun to eat as they are delicious.
For anything traditional (and sometimes not so traditional) Japanese, Kata is a must. Japanese ex-pats call it the most authentic place in town. The sushi and ramen unbeatable. [Eater 38 Member]
My favorite Japanese restaurant in Houston! If you REALLY want to indulge yourself, sit at the sushi bar and have the Omakase (=chefs tasting), Hori-San and Philippe are Phe.no.me.nal!!!
LA Rolls!! :) Sit at the bar and watch them making amazing rolls!
Fresh, flavorful, high-quality food for a lot less than you'd expect to pay, which is why it was awarded Best Sushi in the 2012 Best of Houston® issue.
A mix of molecular gastronomy and Japanese food unlike anywhere else.
The squid robata! Yummy and tender.
Try their speciality cocktails! Awesome!
Gotta try the Kobe beef roll and Rising Sun!
Make a reservation! 30 minute wait at 6:30 on a Wenesday
My absolute favorite sushi place. The Kata Ramen was also just as delicious.
Disappointing katsu don. Better versions of it at Blue Fish and especially at Sage 400.
Houston Press We Love Food - favorite Houston dishes - Snapper with grapefruit
Ask for Little Soya! Also the Texas Hamachi roll is delicious!
Try the Scallop Carpaccio with Goat Cheese for $12. The scallop melts like butter in your mouth and the goat cheese gives each bite a creamy and slightly tangy taste to truly savor.
Caribbean roll is amazing! How could you pass up lobster and mango!
The Kobe beef and pork belly appetizers melt in your mouth! Definitely coming back :)
Kobe beef...I could eat that all day
The Horse Feather is a good drink if u like Whiskey...
Roll the sushi dice and try something new via the daily special!
Sit at the counter and order all of the sushi...but save room for the best desserts in Houston.
Kata Robata actually serves REAL wasabi upon request. Very radish-y.
Lobster Mac-n-cheese was pretty delicious, but who wouldn't have thought that.
Best of Houston 2011 - Top 10 Sushi - #2
Pay for the fresh wasabi. Everything else is just horseradish!
The lobster mac an cheese is just fabulous. Also, the desserts are great too.
Get the live sea urchin when it's available.
The O-toro is the best that I have had. And the wasabi roe is great. Order the sake flight for a fun addition.
Hamachi Jalapenos and the Big Eye Tuna Tar Tar are great appetizers! Also try out Sizzling Seafood Yakisoba!
Kobe melts in your mouth
Good but not great. Can't really compare it to uchi.
Cold Curry Noodles
Food is great, sushi is ok but no service when you go lunch time, too busy too talk to your server.
You need to make a reservation for the omakase, since it takes a good three hours to prepare...
Dish: sashimi platter
The Rising Sun is really good and the peppercorn tuna on top is really fresh. The Texas hamachi is also good but the jalapeños on top can be really spicy or not at all.
The best rolls are the Rising Sun and Ocean Picante. Fabulous.
Lobster mac and cheese! amazing!
Get the ramen.
Absolutely love this spot. One of my fave sushi spots. Never disappoints
From cocktails, tar tar to their Hawaiian rolls they know what they are doing. Their appetizing hh pricing is irresistible. Watch out uchiko you might have found your "middle class" competitor.
The lobster Mac n cheese is a must!!
If you really want to impress someone that enjoys Japanese cuisine, spring the Kata Robata on them. Damn.
Delicious!! The crazy Irishman is the best roll! It's not on the menu but you can order it
They weren't kidding about the lobster Mac n cheese.
This is only place in Houston that has been certified to serve Fugu (aka pufferfish) if you are interested.
Awesome Sushi spot in Houston. They won't seat you unless your entire party is present, even with reservations. Happy hour during the week ends at 7!
