The pastrami is much better than the corned beef, and I’m normally a corned beef guy. Try the latkes too. Overall, the environment sucks, the prices are outrageous, and none of the staff is friendly.

“A delicatessen for 128 years.” Pastrami sandwich on rye, with matzah ball soup! Get your food, stay a while, and pay on your way out.

Stop in one of the local bars before you come here and have a few drinks. It’ll mellow you out because the place is stressful!

Oldest standing deli in NYC, and considered by many to be the very best. (It vies with 2nd Ave Deli for that honor.)

I really like the brisket as it's not too salty!

Worth at least one visit. Touristy and always busy. It’s like walking into a time machine back to the 1960s. Ask for a sample before ordering! Pay on your way out, so don’t lose your ticket.

Hasn't changed in forever, other than the prices. Pastrami is always on point, although the rye wasn't as solid or salty as it should be. Always love the coleslaw here
  • Thibault L.
Overpriced, wait is way too long, sandwichs are way too big and not even that good.

Delicious pastrami sandwich. Overcrowded always, unorganised, have some patience.

Tried Katz's Pastrami Sandwich & it was savagely good!!! Wifey had the Philly cheesesteak which was ok, but the bottled iced tea & lemonade were again on another level! Truly worthy of Harry & Sally!

Be prepared for time travel! This deli is a time capsule, that serves take-out or dine in crazy-large pastrami sandwiches.

May have some delicious food but it’s way too expensive! $20 for a simple pastrami sandwich?! No thanks. But the space is very cool and there’s a really cool atmosphere.

Full of British tourists for some reason. I have also seen Japanese and Germans. Bit of a wait and crowded. Obviously, try the corned beef. Reuben is solid.

Know what you’re ordering. Once you get to the front of the line you may be given a hard time. It is NYC,what do you expect?

We had super grumpy waitress that we were forced to tip twice - 20% incl, as we were warned bc we were 6, but then she chased us screaming we didn't tip her, so we did again. later we saw it was incl.

So surprised of the ratings. It was the worst- taste, service or value. Chicken soup was a bullion cube served half in a cup, half in the dish, a piece of rye + unchewable meat or liverwurst costs ~20$

The pastrami sandwich and pickles were delicious, but still felt overpriced at almost $20. Egg cream was also good.
