All international tickets (To Prague, Munich, Slovakia and so on) work within a month from the date of purchase. Turns are not small therefore it is better to buy tickets in advance.

Whereas the MÁV still issues handwritten international tickets, you have to reserve 30-45 min. for this during the rush days.

This place is extremely crowded and blazingly hot in summer. The platforms are announced only very briefly before train departure.

Beware those who try and help you with your bag down and take you straight to the taxi. It's an expensive service.

Look out for the statues of George Stephenson and James Watt above the main entrance. They were two influencial British engineers who help pioneer the railways.

Open air space so can be cold waiting for trains. If buying an international ticket on premise allow 30-40m. Can be very busy and you need to get a ticket to wait in line (like at a deli).

The train station once must had been inpressive, now is just plain scary. The international ticket office seems to employ solely people who don't like tourists and are not afraid to show it

Always tell your friends or anyone u know not to take taxis that r waiting outside, don't trust them at all, just call a taxi company. I hope the government do something about that.

Lockers for luggage r available downstairs, diagonal from the massive ticket windows. Although there's nothing 2C in the 'hood around the station (as of Sep 2013), don't plan 2 spend too hours here.
