People tend to check in during these times:
Weekend old school movies and monthly Rocky horror show
Great art films and a cute little theater
Try to see something downstairs.
Love watching documentaries here.
Wine bar upstairs
Great place. The chance of enjoying a movie while having some wine is pretty good.
The oldest cinema in Houston, and the most beautiful. The balcony was converted into two additional theatres upstairs. They're cramped and uncomfortable, so I'd advise you go to the downstairs screen.
Popcorn was stale. :(
Their midnight movies are a relaxing way to end the night. The bar is small but it is personable and good enough.
Check out the rare Viva Zapata poster on the second floor behind the bar. Movie filmed in Roma, Tx.
Love it but they don't allow dogs and I don't think that's fair. I'm really quiet and can fit in a purse.
Take a look at the old photography on the wall and in the stairwell. This theater has been around awhile!
Before your movie enjoy a nice stiff drink at the upstairs bar. Prices are very reasonable!
First visit. Might be my last. Shabby and dirty looking place. Hope the film is better than the venue!!!
Best little theater in Houston.
Very quaint movie theater. Well preserved and cute atmosphere. Acoustics leave something to be desired. Not all speakers were on and movie playing next door was too loud and seeped through the walls.
Great place... drinks & movies.
Love this retro theatre...but the seats are uncomfortable and not good for cuddling...
Don't wait in line to get in the movie, go upstairs and order a drink. That makes the wait much more enjoyable.
Free popcorn and sodas with big combos. 10$ ticket. Old fashion theatre.
Best place in Houston to be stood up...
Can't disagree with drinking + great film
Please NEVER tear down this place!
See what's playing on the downstairs screen. Avoid the two upstairs screens-- the cramped quarters were carved out of the balcony and share a common wall.
If you like an even distribution of butter on your popcorn ask for it half n half
Sit in the third to last row. the cushions are amazing!

Ask for a tour of the projector room. Very neat.
Saturday ticket at 2:00 was only $7! Regal or AMC would've been at least $11.
The doors to the men's bathroom sound like a Brontosaurus. Watch out!
show student id for discount!
The upstairs bar is so nice!
Every movie theater should have a bar.
Moviegoers with savoir-faire can catch an independent or foreign flick at this theater, built in 1939.The downstairs theater is grandiose and baroque, all heavy red-velvet curtains, patterned carp

ROCKY HORROR IS THE BEST Come the second Saturday of the month for one of the best nights of your life!
Best movie theater in Houston. Excellent film selections for Friday and Saturday midnight shows.
2010 Best of Houston® Winner: Best Film Series: Regular midnight screenings run the gamut, with action flicks, classics, thrillers and the ever-popular The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The only place in town (that I know) where you can have a drink with your movie. Order a to-go from upstairs and enjoy the show.
They serve their popcorn in environmentally friendly bags which is nice but sadly it was way to salty during my last visit.
Happy Hour ALL DAY & NIGHT, Monday - Thursday (at the upstairs bar)
