The Grim Burger has just been bumped up to $9.25 for the 1/3 lb of juicy beef with jalapeño, bacon, and macaroni & cheese. It is a beast. My only wish for this is to use fresh grilled jalapeños.
The South of the Border Burger is more than what it promises to be. Here's the beef in case you were asking. Buns are perfection. The cilantro sauce sends it over the top w/just enough kick!
Incredible burgers, but first you must prepare yourself sever days in advance. Get your mind, body and soul in the right frame of mind for this. You'll be miserable afterwards. But in a good way.
The standard 1/3 burger is legit. Solid with little to improve on. The buns have the taste and consistency similar to the ones at Three Brother's Bakery.
A step back in time. Great ambiance of a period. Wonderful salsa and chips, old fashioned burger, great fries and onion rings, very good comfort Mexican food , large portions, great prices.
If Mcdonalds is who you consider serves a good burger, this place isn't for you. If you want a delicious pile of juicy madness that oozes down your arm as you eat it - this is where you need to go.
$9.25 gets you the Grim burger. 1/3 lb beef patty, bacon, jalapenos, fried egg, and ... mac & cheese. Yes. Mac & cheese. Don't count on being productive at work after this bad boy.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites are the veggie burger for a healthy option or the firehouse burger.
Chiliheads, do you think you can handle the Firehouse? If you're into the type of spice that causes leakage in your nose and a change in your breathing patterns then this bad boy is for you.
Cash only. come early or late to get a table. Great burgers: a single with cheese was a 5 napkin affair. Fries are not as good as rings... Great outdoor tables.
Lunch is good; breakfast is better. This is definitely NOT a fancy pretentious place. The only thing that will impress you is the food.
The Grim Burger has everything that you could have ever asked for on a burger! Unfortunately, it's probably the #1 cause of obesity among middle-aged Texan adults. Enjoy!
Last tip: don't wait for your check. When you're finished, remember your table # and go to the register. BTW: they only take cash. No credit cards.
I had the patty melt. It wasn't super amazing, but it was pretty solid as far as patty melts go. Cash only is really dumb though.
Be prepared. Every thing I've ever ordered (except burgers) have had so much pepper that it was almost inedible. I don't know if I can come back again.
Solid burger. Hand-formed patty - actually a minus when they're rushed; can be very uneven (and cook unevenly). Bun is a weak point.
Easily one of the best burgers in Houston. Can't go wrong with any of them. Daily specials are usually on point too.
The burgers here are quite good. They are large and juicy. Also they grow all of their own vegetables behind the restaurant.
Great firehouse burger, hot and spicy! Add bacon to any burger you get from here. Onion rings are great! *********CASH ONLY********
If you like Spicy then try the firehouse burger. It is habanero paste, chili powder and jalapeños! Amazing but so so hot!
The Wednesday special, Beef Enchilada Dinner, is amongst the best I have ever had. But don't tell anyone! It gets sooo crowded.
Food is great but it's such a popular place the service suffers. Avoid the lunch rush or you'll be standing in line. CASH ONLY.
Try the pimento cheeseburger with bacon - The Pimento Cheeseburger (+ bacon) at Lankford's: So messy, yet so delicious.
Amazing!!! You definitely have to go on Wednesday's for the enchiladas they are the best in Houston!
The Greek burger is surprisingly good. It's the 1/3 burger with feta, olives and spinach. The olives used are terrific.
Forget the biscuits and gravy. Dried out, over cooked hockey pucks, with gravy so salty you could cure meat. Stick to the burgers.
Good burger, really good onion rings - really crispy and not too much batter. Blackberry cobbler is only so-so.
Grim burger is one of the best hamburgers I have ever eaten! Can't wait to go back!
Awesome burgers. Cheap beer. Breakfasts are the best though. Remember they close early.
Try the Tex Mex (fried onion & jalapeño straws) with the cilantro jalapeño sauce. Magic!
The tots are your typical diner tots. Fresh and crispy.
Excelentes burgers al puro estilo texano. Classic with cheese and bacon... delicious.
Try the Red White & Blue Burger - Delicious one of the best but also one of the messiest
The Firehouse Burger is super spicy and tasty. Serious heat. Awesome burger.
All the burgers are great. The Grim burger is the best I've had so far.
Go early as it gets crowded quickly! So worth any wait regardless!
awesome burgers I like the red white and blue. giant breakfast tacos and great huevos rancheros
Leave a lot of time. The wait for a table can be very long during lunchtime.
Burgers are decent. But be prepared to have a sloppy, greasy mess of a burger.
One of the best hamburgers in Houston. Definitely a must try.
Been a while since Hubert was here, Grim burger is now $9.25 but still delicious!! Btw onionrings are extra ;-)
If you don't eat beef they will substitute chicken! And its not very roomy!
Bring cash and cash only...this place doesn't accept credit cards!
Classic burgers. They've been doing this for ages & they've got it down.
Great burger and specials CFS is awesome. Cash only
Greek burger is delicious, so is the fresh lemonade!
If you live across the street this could be your kitchen cafe.
