    To the left of the steps is a little museum. In the back of there is an elevator that can take you up to (or down from) the memorial, if you can't climb the stairs or don't feel like it.

    Look for the marked location where MLK Jr gave his famous speech before you head up the last 18 steps to see Lincoln.

    Don't forget to read the Gettysburg Address, one of the most famous speeches ever spoken. It's on the left as you come in. Notice how it's written as a story. Lincoln was famous as a storyteller.

    i must admit... quite a site (and sight)... the reflecting pool, the marked spot where MLK gave his speech, the monument and Capital in the background...wow.... nice even on a hot day

    The Lincoln Memorial is a wonderful spectacle. Whether you go in snow or sun, it's beautiful. Plus a vital scene from Forest Gump took place here.

    If you look behind his statue, in his hair, you can kind of make out a profile of John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated Lincoln. JK.

    All 54 stairs will give you a work out, but they're marble so be careful if they're wet
