People tend to check in during these times:
If you need tickets, the only machine is on the Manhattan bound side.. Don't forget, you must be in the first four cars on either side
No parking allowed between 3am and 5 am.
Be sure to let anyone you're picking up here that only the first 4 cars let out.

Eastbound train in morning rush hour is just too comfortable and not crowded like the Westbound.

Run and hide in the bathroom like I see all the kids do if your only going a few stops to avoid the ticket collector
When you use the train on a sat or sun buy a city ticket. It's cheaper.
I have yet to take a train westbound that comes on time.
If your going one way in the same 24hr period,city ticket is the best/cheapest way to go

Nice station with a touch of old style, convienient location by Kew Gardens downtown and accessibilty is very easy. BTW, purchase tickets at TVM's to avoid a $5.00 surcharge on board the train...
The LIRR ticket machine is on the New York bound (west bound) side of the station. Platform A
