    Nightmare during rush hour. If you need the Jubilee line, avoid this station and walk for 7 mins to Southwark instead.

    Overground self service ticket machines are upstairs. Underground ticket machines are downstairs. You cannot purchase overground rail tickets downstairs with the ticket machines.

    If you have a few minutes spend it to admire the architecture. You can even spot old stained glasses from the passage to Waterloo East.

    Don't bother with the tube if you're going across the river to Strand/Trafalgar Square. Take a walk through the South Bank and across the Hungerford bridge. It doesn't take much longer and it's free!

    For Surrey leave from low number platforms, with local trains in a loop 'clockwise' back to the high number platforms. For Berkshire leave from high numbers with local journeys reversed

    There are a number of places to dine or simply buy some drinks. If you are looking for a cheap place to buy some food or bottle drinks, there is M&S simply food or WhistleStop towards the platform 1.

    The ATMs by WH Smith get busy. Try the ones down the escalators by the Waterloo Road exit, the ones by Lush (if you can stand the smell) or the ones in the bureau de change.

    If you need to buy tickets from the machines on a Friday, do so in the morning. By evening the station is packed, and queues run 7-8 people deep at each ticket machine.

    The Android version of Google Maps gives you an indoor map of the station. Very useful if you want to locate shops / platforms etc. in the station.
