Today, we understand the importance of environmental conservation. That wasn't so common in 1906, when Pierre du Pont purchased this land to preserve the trees.

If it's your first visit, buy a one-day admission then consider buying a membership as you leave. You can apply the cost of your one-day admission towards the membership fee if you ask politely.
Go several times a year, as the displays are constantly changing
Make reservations for a sunset dinner at the 1906 restaurant. Arrive two hours before dinner and tour the conversatory as you work up a good appetite.
Bring your macro lens
The one-year family membership is a steal for the price! Family of 6 here saved on first visit. More times per year is found money.
They have the most beautiful flower show every Spring. If in town check it out
This is good for photographers, artists etc. The flowers are gorgeous, and the children's garden is perfect interaction. This place is gorgeous in all seasons, and open for all. Love. MUST GO!
If the front doors are locked, allow yourself to face the fact that they close at 5 pm in October.
The mushroom soup at the cafeteria is a must have. Delicious!

Do not miss the Italian water garden if you're there in the summer. It's a hidden gem on the outskirts of the property buy its well worth the visit.

The Christmas display is amazing every year! Buy timed tickets on the website to avoid ticket lines during the holidays.
The grounds are breathtaking, but if you have time, stay for the fireworks. Other than Disney World, this is the BEST fireworks display I've ever seen. Dinner at The Terrace Restaurant was a yummy e

Such a lovely way to ignite the Christmas spirit, beautiful scenery, amazing horticulture and indoor flower displays as well as lights and a musical, water fountain show to top it all off!
I didn't want to go back here for a long time, but now I sort of want to again.
Great time & a lot to see. Make sure U give Urself at least 4+ hours to see it all. When they have the fireworks show I would highly recommend n it'll be the best show U'll ever see. Well worth the $$
