inspired by dim sum, the passed plates and cart service allow for a hand-selected, communal dining experience from executive chef paul carmichael.
An excellent dining alone experience. Ask for a two-top against the back wall.
Wow. I liked everything here. The habanero chicken and waffles was sublime. Shrimp in the shrimp and grits was juicy and succulent
Annoying service, overrated, overpriced
2015-2016 Carnegie Hall Concert Season, one complimentary glass of wine selected by Momofuku beverage director with purchase of large plate (dish meant to share) from á la carte menu for members.
Happy hour is a busy time
Great spot for dates, David Chang's newest restaurant features great pork buns and a chic atmosphere, and is close to Momfuku for dessert after!
It's all about the pork buns.
1) Order the Fried Chicken 2) Use the Ssam sauce for the pork buns with it 3) Profit
Fave thing on the brunch menu is the chorizo breakfast noodles.
Go for lunch- a couple passed plates and a large plate are good for two. I recommend the lobster rice + pork buns
Chicken & rice meal is great. Reserve 48 hrs in advance and you need at least a party of 4 but this meal easily feeds 8.
The chicken & rice meal here is worth it, you have to order it 48 hrs in advance and have a party of 4 to order. Personally, I'd go with a larger group. This meal can easily feed 8
Pork buns (and any other bun specials)!
if available, get the Brussels sprouts and the rice cakes. also pork buns duh
Pork buns, oysters
Quite a confusing experience with potentially very good service but so so food. Multiple weird mishaps with basic restaurant tasks led to the manager waiving the bill as a courtesy.
Just plain very good/well prepared (a tad salty) food!
Great little tapas dishes, pork belly and soft shell crab buns, lobster rice... Avoid the salty and heavy general Changs' chicken.
In addition to "staples menu" (which also has seasonal items) they have carts that come around at all meal times
Try the habanero fried chicken, unless you want to drag your own joyless soul across the earth for the remainder of your days.
Pork buns! You can get sweets from milk bar.
The happy hour specials - $5 for a Seven Spice Sour, Bartender's Choice, or a 2 oz spirit pour - may be the best deal in Midtown North.
2015 James Beard nominee for Best Chef - Paul Carmichael
You can't go wrong here - everything is excellent.
Pork buns and old fashions
Brunch is fabulous, but everything is served a la carte, dim sum style. So, if you don't pay attention, there could be some sticker shock when the bill comes
High end tapas, short ribs are always a good choice.
pork buns and old fashioneds all day
Large format dinner = two roasted chickens and an incredible number of delicious sides. Totally worth it.
David Chang does it again. Came for a weekday lunch, particularly enjoyed the seared scallops; spicy pork rice cakes were tasty and filling. Trout buns were good, but didn't beat out the pork buns.
An interesting take on yum cha/dim sum - momofuku style
The lobster fried rice and the veggies with rice cakes were my favorite two dishes. The fish was also pretty awesome.
Boneless porgy w/ fennel slaw + dim sum were delicious; Milk Bar cake truffles - not so much
The lamb shank is to die for.
I love ma peche - a good break from the other neighborhood options. A bit more fun, inventive food. Pork buns and corn side both great. Good for even a work lunch.
The food was pretty disappointing. Everything felt like it had been cooked the day before...
Checking it out
MUST HAVE the trout buns, jerk chicken wings, and avocado dip. Fritters - just OK. Great service, superb wait staff. Hidden gem !!
Lunchtime dim sum is worth the trip - doesn't get too crowded surprisingly. Softshell crab buns, lobster fried rice, rice cakes yum!
Entrees are huge. One of those and 2–3 appetizers or dim sum plates is plenty. Lobster rice is definitely amazing.
Highly recommend the pork buns! Salty fat goodness you won't regret. The fried chicken was ok but might as well head to KFC!
Come for lunch and eat EVERYTHING on the carts. You cannot go wrong!
Over priced, but had good cold sake
Great place for lunch and dinner. Dim sum style lunch allows for a very tasty yet quick lunch.
Happy hour cocktails are must and Ofcourse pork buns
Go for the food, not for the service. Food= A+, service = F
Everything. I'll say it again, everything! I'm in love with this place.
Get the lobster fried rice and the watermelon salad. Service a little patchy; we felt neglected by the desserts cart (and staff).
The food is so phenomenal. The menu changes from time to time; try as many dishes as you can. Remember to order the cereal milk soft serve. Highly recommended even if service is patchy.
