The trail is amazing! The vegetation is so diverse, from banyans to bamboos. Though the volume of water of the falls wasn't much since it was the end of summer

Definitely can be done in flip flops. Just remember to wear bug spray.

Expect heavy but brief rainfall. Weather changes quickly but well worth the views. About 1 hr round trip. Get there before 10am to avoid the crowds.
  • Jesennia K.
Hike early to avoid crowds . Bring insect repellent and a change of clothes , it can be very muddy .

Monoa is great but if you're headed this way it's worth checking out Lyon Arboretum. It's literally next door and has its own trails filled with Hawaiian and other exotic plants.

When the path is wet, it's slippery. Be careful and wear good shoes. Have time to explore? The bamboo "forest" on the side of the path is quite beautiful.

Lessons learned: Don't wear flip flops (like I did), grab bamboo sticks as your walking stick (it gets muddier as you get to the top), and don't forget your bug spray.

Wear bug spray! Worst mosquitoes we've seen on the island. The pool at end of water fall is not deep enough for swimming (and dangerous, according to the signs)

If it is really muddy on the trails, I would highly recommend just going barefoot. There aren't any bugs to worry about and it is much easier to clean your feet than mud-soaked shoes

Легкий непродолжительный трейл. Нужна хорошая обувь, так как там очень влажно и скользко. В конце будет симпатичный водопад, где можно искупаться.
