Maialino is a Roman Trattoria in Gramercy Park from Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group.
Great wine and fantastic food!
I no longer live on the East coast yet I think of this restaurant with abject longing frequently, it's that great.
Go 4-course, all the way!
not only is this spot super cozy, but they have amazing food. Carciofi fritti, suckling pig, clams, cacio e pepe, carbonara and the truffle special dish are life changing, and the italian cookies <3
a beautiful restaurant, perfect for bringing your parents. food-wise, the suckling pig is their signature dish, but it is a bit of a chore to eat. perhaps best to go for one of the delicious pastas!
papardelle alla bolognese has a great flavor. I love the sauce on the malfatti but the suckling pig is a little too gamy for my liking. the bruschetta is great to share, as is the olive oil muffin.
incredible wine list
Ohhh their Primos are great
Great happy hour!
Food was good but the highly rated suckling pig in the pork was tough
Malfati is a must!!!
The pastas are amazing - particularly the pesto one. The chicken cutlet is good but get it without the sauce (mushrooms)
Peer through the gates of the "residents only" gated Gramercy Park and then stop in here for delicious breakfast selections. Take a look through the adjoining hotel lobby and pretend you can afford it
Save room for pastries! They are superb!
🍳w/brussel sprouts + sweet potatoes & pastry basket
Great brunch place for their ricotta pancake. How can it be so fluffy!!!!
The name says it all: get the maialino!
love the brunch here. apple croissant and latte!
The banana loaf 💜
This is the most delicious breakfast I have had in a while. I ordered the scrambled eggs with pecorino and they were a dream. I love everything about this place.
Sit at the bar and have a cappuccino. The baristas know what they're doing and the barkeeps are super friendly.
Freshly made pastas were excellent as were the main courses.
Serves Incredible breaskfast. The pork hash and the pancakes are insane! Best in class :)
They gave me the wrong menu. After 20 mins discovered that it was the wrong menu. The soup was microwave hot. Instead of using napkins they use hand cutted old menus under the bowl. Interesting place.
Best pasta and ricotta pancakes. 😍
alla carbonara with egg yolks, guanciale or Maialino
Pastas are as authentically Roman as you can get! Cacio, Carbonara, Chitarra, etc. and anything with the roasted suckling pig/fish is a gift from heaven. Beets are beautiful and save room for dessert!
Caccio e pepe is great. Still tough to get in.
Great lunch specials! Porchetta sandwich
Roman cuisine with fresh ingredients. Sit at the bar for a view of Gramercy Park out the window. One bartender during weekday lunch means slower service, but it's Italian. Take your time.
order the pastry basket, tonnarelli e cacio e pepe, ricotta pancakes and pistacchio ice cream for dessert. the pork hash was okay (very salty) and the contadino disappointing (not much flavor).
Breakfast, Lunch, or dinner..... You will not be disappointed. Food is served family style which makes sampling fun.
Exceptional Italian in a lively setting. Pasta and wine pairing was magnificent, albeit service very slow so be patient.
The cacio e pepe is bliss. Not to mention exceptional daiquiris.
My fav dish is the bucatini & the berry cocktail. Also, the bread they serve in the beginning is awesome. Perfect for family, friends or special occasions!
Late-Night Burger, only available between 10:30pm and midnight and only in the front barroom!
The pre-fixe lunch menu is well worth it! Try the prosciutto app and carbonara!
The Cacio e Pepe eggs at breakfast is one of the finest dishes in all the land.
Best NYC meal I've ever had. Hands down. The service is impeccable and the attention to detail is envious. The food was so savory I wanted thirds.
The bread they start you with (from Sullivan St Bakery) is amazing, but try not to fill up on it, because everything else is too.
All the pastas and chicken! Gelato and coffee are amazing.
Get the breakfast frittata bianca every morning for the rest of your life.
Late-Night Burger, $15 Nick Anderer’s Italian take (Gorgonzola, house-cured pancetta, escarole on rosemary brioche) is available only between 10:30 p.m. and midnight and only in the front barroom.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in nyc. It feels like being back home!
Must haves: cappuccino with apricot almond scone
Spectacular food. Also excellent at getting coffee on the high tops. Beware, gets very crowded in the evenings. Because it's you know, awesome.
Good but overrated IMO. They were slammed but I had pretty crappy service dining at bar
