Cheeky cash machine on the way to platforms 13 and 14 never has a queue...
A good variety of food services to choose from. Great if you've got time to spare inbetween trains.
Transport Police are everywhere. Even in store displays.
Need an ATM? There's a few near Sainsburys, but usually a big queue to boot. Pop down the escalators and make a right for a sneaky ATM with no queue!
Not the best of train stations. Best travel food is probably at Pret... Give yourself some extra time if you're travelling on platform 13-14. They're a bit of a walk away.
Decent railway station with a good number of ticket machines and ATMs dotted around. It can still be hard work trying to get a ticket at busy times, though. Fridays are a nightmare for ticket machines
Big with lots of shops to browse whilst waiting for train. Close to centre
Platform 14 is one hell of a trek…
Huge railway station with links to many lines, lots of shops too
Very central location
Huge station! Free wifi
Easy to get to and plenty of things to keep you busy while you wait.

Free wifi. Also, everything's organized so you won't get lost.
Apple ear bud wearers..... ever considered that not everyone wants to share your tinny music through those crappy ear pieces? No, thought not.
Sit on the balcony and watch the trains - with calamari and an aperol spritz.
The best value breakfast (and lunch deal) food is at Gregg's just outside the station - a coffee and bacon and sausage roll for £2.
Take your headphones off, Trains have a habit of having their platforms changed at the last minute.
Good Cornish pasty from the Pasty Shop, which is NOT called the Potato Wedges Shop for very good reason
Ignore the screens and tannoy. They frequently lie.
There are 2 ticket machines opposite Starbucks which no-one ever uses - save yourself queueing!
There's a cash machine on Platform 10 which never has a queue + at basement level by taxi/Metrolink exit.
Look up at the joists in the main concourse - they are all marked with names of famous mancunians from the last 200 years.
As there isn't a single Bin 🚮 on the platforms "for security reasons", keep your rubbish on you
Delice de France is nice but don't go unless you have half an hour before your train... Slowest service ever!
Go to Sainsburys, cheaper food than anywhere here!
Be careful if someone come up to you and ask for money for traveling. He is a con guy and have asked from me more than four/ five times now.

Sainsbury's meal deal at £3 is likely your best bet if you need to eat on the hoof but want to keep both of your arms and legs.
Pigeons will try and race you to the trains in order to snaffle up the best seats. Beat them up the concourse, or else you totally will end up sat next to a toilet!
If possible don't use northern rail, its incredibly shit service.
Please note that there are NO TRAINS running, ANYWHERE, in Britain on December 25 & 26, every year.
Get bakery items from Sainsburys behind main concourse and save a packet on cafe prices.
If spending the night and can't get a bed, don't sleep in waiting areas. VERY cold, benches uncomfy. 30p for the toilets or jump turnstyle if quiet, kip in cubicles. Not classy or comfy but it's warm.
Guards will no longer let you through to buy on the train & take pleasure in taking ages to examine your ticket when you're obviously in a rush
Try the bacon & cheese croissant at Delice de France. DELICIOUS!
Easy place to get around if if you aren't from the area.

Once you're on a train. Put the generic iThink NotePad away and have a nap. You deserve it. It's been a long and probably arduous day or meetings and bullshit office politics.
