We've never gone home unhappy after a visit to Matt's, thanks to their Bob Armstrong dip, affordable range of price points and dedication to classic Tex-Mex. [Eater 38 Member]

SXSW Recommendation from Sietsema- some of the best Tex-Mex in the world. Chili con queso (a spicy dip made with a cheese that owes a big debt to Velveeta) is legendary, and so are their enchiladas.

Don't forget they are closed on Tuesdays. I have found myself driving to Matt's many times on the WRONG day of the week, only to find myself crying in the empty parking lot. Never again!

It is indeed famous and is by far my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Austin. Great prices for great food. Friendly atmosphere. STRONGLY recommend.

Lots of their food can be made gluten free, but you need to ask. Chips are all clear, though, they have their own fryer.

White people Mexican food. Most of it is bland and over priced. The queso sucks. All that being said, for the most part the staff is quite awesome (if you don't count the managers).

They don't use fresh line juice for their skinny Rita's. So they really don't offer a skinny Rita. They don't bother to tell you that either. You have to ask for olives with your Mexican martini.
