Boasts the largest Amer. whiskey collection in the world. Order the Poached Egg or Brussels Sprouts apps FTW, and follow up w Braised Pork Shoulder & Belly. Wash it down w a Spicy Buck cocktail.

Features New American fare with quite a bit of seafood on the menu, as well as seasonal dishes. A selection of bourbon cocktails, a diverse beer list, and wines by the glass. Read more

Great bourbon list, if a bit overloud. Service is brisk to perhaps a fault but the corn muffins are fresh from the oven and the beef carpaccio is one of the most tender out there. From Char 4's owner.

Great for tasting variety. Top shelf is $$, but selection is great. BMH is $50/1oz glass; I get bottles for $42. But at lower level they have old Taylor & heaven hill for $3/glass which is amazing

The crispy grits & smoked whitefish mousse are amazing app's to share. Don't order the pasta appetizer-- the 4 small pieces of ravioli with a sliver of crab on top is offensive for a $18 price tag.

The food is refined without being fussy, and the menu is full of crowd-pleasers. Get the crispy grits with ribbons of country ham, and the poached egg dish with duck confit. [Eater 38 Member]

Huge selection of whiskey and bourbon. Modern bar, across from hill country. Can put a dent in your pocket just for a few drinks. Very informative bartenders.

    Russell Hirschorn · September 14, 2015

Consistently good food at the bar (even when the kitchen is closed and menu is limited), and the whiskey selection is hard to match. Good cocktails to go along with it, you won't be upset.

Came for brunch and had my mind blown by those Hay Roasted Oysters. Very good Bloody Mary and tasty pulled pork sandwich with whiskey pickles. Will be back for crispy grits & Brussels sprouts!

Start with the fluke tartare and the crispy grits. The duck breast medium rare with strawberries, spring onions and fois gras was divine. Get a 2 oz glass of Lagavulin Distiller's Edition!

Came here for brunch and had the chef's plate. Fried eggs were perfect, sausage and potatoes were great, biscuit was amazing and the Whiskey Milk Fizz blew my mind. Can't wait to go back.

Very nice place. Order any fish meal and you won't be disappointed. Slow cooked char (spring recipe) is very nice. Smoked trout is great as well.

The pulled pork sandwich was lick the juice off dripping down your hand good. And the homemade chips were addictive. Will definitely return to make better use of the bourbon selection!

Maybe my expectations were too high, really love Char#4, grits were indeed special & trout was delicious but service mediocre, never asked how to cook rib-eye & cheese plate presentation sad, too $$$$

Great bourbon selection and a nice place for cocktails in NoMad. They have food too. Brussel sprout something smelled insanely good.

The "Guns n Roses" is a shot of Four Roses Bourbon and a bottle of Rum aged Innis&Gunn beer. $14. How perfect is that??

Try the poached farm egg with duck confit to start, the sea bass as a main, and the goat cheese cheesecake to finish. Aside: Menus change seasonally.

Chat No 4 with Manhattan prices, but the quality is on point. The whitefish mousse is a highlight, as well as the whisk(e)y selection, of course.

Happy to have Maysville as a neighborhood spot. Chicken under a brick is incredible, along with the crispy grits & cornbread. Amazing crudos as well.

Not great .. brunch menu was OK and food taste has slipped from past experiences; Ragu sauce with cream and the Carbonara was extremely salty - eatable, but not at it's former glory.

    Peter Foreman · September 8, 2013

Smoked trout was outstanding. "Gold in the River" drink pairing delicious. Hay oysters a must. Stuffed pasta less successful, and Royale cocktail a miss.

The highlights are the crispy grits, any drink with bourbon & meat dishes...especially pork. There's a back room great for private events.

why they choose to oversalt the beautiful ingredients in the dishes is beyond me. fresh, delicious product masked by a heavy hand makes for a sad diner in me.
