American Restaurant & Whiskey Bar
Brussels sprouts made me see God.
As good as sophisticated southern food gets in New York. Amazing pulled pork sandwich on the lunch menu.
The 60-foot wall of bourbons (alphabetized for your browsing convenience) is a thing of beauty.
Bartenders were awesome!he gave me a great suggestion &i joked that there wasn't enough in the glass,so he doubled it-4free!lol &i urged him 2hav a shot w/me when the manager wasnt looking;)
The food is refined without being fussy, and the menu is full of crowd-pleasers. Get the crispy grits with ribbons of country ham, and the poached egg dish with duck confit. [Eater 38 Member]
All the bartenders look like frat boys
Huuuuge selection of bourbon!! You got to come in and try a couple...
Get the Spicy Buck: Weller Special Reserve Bourbon & Blenheim SC Spicy Ginger Ale...this drink packs some heat!
Stellar bourbon menu
Like a trip back to my hometown of Maysville, KY. Without having to, ya know, actually go back.
Amazing bourbon selection, great southern-inflected menu, eat anything involving duck. Or marrow. Or pig. Great addition to the neighborhood!
Great for tasting variety. Top shelf is $$, but selection is great. BMH is $50/1oz glass; I get bottles for $42. But at lower level they have old Taylor & heaven hill for $3/glass which is amazing
Ask for Andy, he's awesome. Also, extensive bourbon, whiskey, and wine list.
Grits. Nothing more and certainly nothing less.
So, basically Char No. 4 right across the street from my office?? Hell yeah!!
great whiskey list and really good grub. bone marrow and roasted oysters both top notch.
Choose between 1oz or 2oz glass on every whiskey here, great for trying new or enjoying an old favorite!
The service is a little bit on the slow side, but the food is amazing and def worth the wait!
Smoked trout was outstanding. "Gold in the River" drink pairing delicious. Hay oysters a must. Stuffed pasta less successful, and Royale cocktail a miss.
Bone Marrows... Yum!
The pulled pork sandwich was lick the juice off dripping down your hand good. And the homemade chips were addictive. Will definitely return to make better use of the bourbon selection!
Biggest whiskey selection in NYC. They have stuff I've only seen on Caskers.com
Have the oysters on bourbon soaked and charred hay. Thank me later.
The Sazerac is tasty
Grit cakes are delicious here. Beautiful ambiance.
First visit - excellent pulled pork sandwich, chips on the side made on site are just as good. Add in a very nice Manhattan and I think I found my new favorite lunch spot.
Get the crispy grits and ham.
Brussels sprouts are incredible! We almost ordered a second as we loved it so much. Don't bother with the winter veg salad- nothing special
Grab a drink at the bar while you wait. You'll learn a thing or two.
Somewhat disappointing. Avoid being seated in noisy back room.
Amazing crispy grits for brunch!
Great scotch/bourbon selection. The table ordered the grits, brussel sprouts and I got the steak -- all superb.
Pulled pork sandwich melts in your mouth. Good service. Delicious Food. Pretty fast. Awesome atmosphere.
Try a bunch of whiskeys. You'll find some interesting bottles here so step outside of your comfort zone.
Winter Salad was so delicious we had to order two.
Try the poached farm egg with duck confit to start, the sea bass as a main, and the goat cheese cheesecake to finish. Aside: Menus change seasonally.
crispy grits + whiskey = 💯
A little formulaic.
why they choose to oversalt the beautiful ingredients in the dishes is beyond me. fresh, delicious product masked by a heavy hand makes for a sad diner in me.
Want to learn about American whiskey? Get yourself here pronto! Bartenders will take you on a great journey. Wonder how long it will take me to get through all the bottles?
Smoked trout was perfect.
I don't think I took a break for air when eating the Brussels sprouts. Order them, now.
had the duck breast for dinner and really enjoyed it.
Great spot for whiskey lovers
Get the Brussels sprouts!
This Bloody Mary!
The Duck. Oh my god the duck. Get it.
Fried grits, an old fashioned and the peach ice cream...can't go wrong.
