One of my favorite spots in Hyde Park. In the winter, enjoy yummy hot chocolate and write your name in one of the booths. In the summer, you have to eat brunch on the rooftop patio. Everything's good.

The "garbage" pizza is great! Went back after 20 plus years and it was still the same atmosphere, tastes, just everything! If you order fries, just one order will do for up to 3 persons! Just great!

You can’t have a good pizza without a good crust, and if you want good crust, heading to a bakery is a no-brainer. Expect options on crust at this spot along with funky and various toppings Read more

I always recommend the Med(s) to those visiting Hyde Park. Café au lait, pastries, fruit pies and tarts, etc. Their OJ was always warm and sunny during my AM... in religion.

Steak sandwich and Mediterranean Pizza are not to be missed. Great coffee too. Booths are tight and scrawled with generations of initials and messages. Friendly but slow service.

The kitchen gladly makes gluten-free and allergy-free substitutions, such as quesadillas made with corn instead of flour tortillas. No peanuts are on the menu, though the attached bakery does use nuts Read more

Get the apple pastry a la mode. For something savory, can't go wrong with the turkey and Swiss or ham and cheese croissant

Tried and true, the croissants at the Medici on 57th are well worth the walk from campus as they're super buttery and dense.

The coffee here is really good, but the French toast was a little bland for my taste. If you come for breakfast definitely get something from the bakery. You won't be disappointed.

Save room for dessert (huge sundaes!), or at least a float or a milkshake. The Mexicana milkshake is especially delicious.

Get a grilled cheese with blue cheese (doesn't cost more, even if it isn't on the menu anymore). It is even better with bacon.

Medici was better 20 years ago, when it was more college student prices, now its gotten more expensive and hanging on Obama's coattails, service has gone down a lot too. So sad!! :( FLORIAN COME BACK!
