Very very tasty. The salt cod fried rice is a must get. And their West Lake porridge is perfect for a sick day

Get the thrice cooked bacon here! One of the few restaurants opened in Mission District late at night

The best Chinese food hands down. Get everything so spicy you can't feel your lips. Thrice cooked bacon, Kung pao pastrami, ma pao tofu makes a perfect meal for two.

Noah Weiss · 3 weeks ago
  • Shannon C.

the 3x cooked bacon is worth the hype. Schmaltz rice is also amazing.

    Shannon Coulson · June 2
  • Rayna

Ate so much here: Tea smoked eel, mapo tofu, egg noodles, chongqing wings, and Sichuan pickles!!

    Rayna · May 31
  • Morgan R.

Mapo doufu was just as it should be: very spicy, lots of mala

Ma Po with mushrooms is a new staple in my Chinese dining

    Derek Hammer · May 23
  • Kevin R.

I was very drunk here but I said, "This is the best Chinese food of my life," at least 10 times. Hard to have a bad choice here, but Ma Po Tofu with pork stands out for me

  • The Mini John

I don't remember half of the names of our food but I remember that it was delicious as fck!!!! We had to close a table in advance because the place is almost always filled up.

The Mini John · May 19
  • Anthony B.

Servings are huge, mapo tofu and the bacon noodle dish are quite spicy. Rice is $1 extra but they brought out enough to feed the four of us. Waitress was cute.

    Anthony Basilio · May 10
  • Jackie W.

They put the Má in Má Pó Tofu.

  • Lauren M.

Not just overrated, but downright bland. The fried rice fish dish everyone raves about is basically a huge plate of flavorless carbs. So overpriced, little flavor.

    Lauren Mac · April 30
  • Bourbon🍸Explorer

    Decent but overpriced and overhyped.

  • Peiying W.

Mapo tofu with mushrooms is a genius invention. Must have!

    Peiying Wen · April 26
  • Rem K.

Everything! But the chicken heart and peanut salad is especially tasty. Order in to avoid long lines.

    Rem Koning · April 23
  • Rebecca W.

Everything is good. Squid ink noodles delicious. Tiki pork belly crisped outside tender inside to perfection. Tea-smoked eel mix of textures amazing.

    Rebecca Wang · April 21
  • Alex Y.

Good food but really salty. Great service

    Alex Yee · April 8
  • Kim P.

Worth the hype to try at least once! Must order: the salted cod fried rice and pork belly. Skip: the eel rolls.

    Kim Pham · April 5
  • Yusun C.

I liked it but I don't think it's worth the wait. It's overpriced hip modern Chinese food. I would only go if it's late enough to avoid waiting.

    Yusun Chung · April 2
  • Andy H.

Egg egg noodle has a tasty and unique flavor! I will eat it again! MaPo Tofu was good but on the salty side. Balance of texture between the tofu and the mushrooms were really good!!

    Andy Hemmi · March 25
  • Jeshua B.

It's terrible in all the right ways.

    Jeshua Borges · March 21

The long beans, forbidden fried rice, and veal rib are all super dope.

Try the Ma Po Tofu. Spicy and tasty :)

I am not a fan of the cod fried rice. The pork belly and ribs are super tender and tasty

    Jenny Q · March 15
  • Frost L.

Good if order online but I won't wait in line for it.

Kung Pao Pastrami is one of a kind in a good way

    Amaan Penang · February 16
  • Jeff W.

This place is phenomenal! Make your way here early, otherwise the wait may have you heading elsewhere if you're really hungry…

    Jeff W · February 11
  • Nikolai S.

General tso's veal rib is amazing. But beware it's a lot of food

    Nikolai Skoglund · February 9
  • Henry W.

this is by far the worst food i've ever had. Its not even Chinese food in my opinion. The kung pao pastrami tastes like leftovers quickly scrambled in a wok with an overload of salt. AVOID.

Be prepared to wait (although, as of Jan '15 I heard they're taking rezzies??) Solid shareable Chinese dishes.

The menu changes often - but I'll never get over the cumin lamb with medjool dates.

  • Eatosaurus Rex

Yeah, the Salt Cod Fried Rice is probably the most popular item on the menu, but if you want to shit fire order the Ma Po Tofu. I don't know why I said that like its a good thing.

    Eatosaurus Rex · December 20, 2014
  • Reesa K.

Cod fried rice and the rice cakes were out of this world good!

    Reesa Kashuk · December 11, 2014

Amazing chicken wings, mapo tofu, braised pork with pork rinds

    Runqiu Cai · December 8, 2014
  • Jenny Q.

I was skeptical, but this place is actually delicious. Chinese fusion with more Chinese than fusion. Pork belly, ribs, and ma po tofu (over crab!) were favorites. Green beans also had a nice kick.

    Jenny Q · December 7, 2014

Eel roll, tiki pork belly, spicy beef chow mein

The mapo tofu is my favorite. Order as many dishes as you can for family style, they're all awesome and most of them have Sichuan peppercorn. Delicious.

    Kung pao pastrami, FTW.

    David Strasser · October 20, 2014
  • Jennifer O.

Everything was so good! But beware of the spice. Just one "fire" was a lot more spicy than I can handle. Next time I'll stick with the dishes with no "fire".

    Jennifer Orr · October 10, 2014
  • Henry W.

Worst "chinese" food I've had in awhile. Kung pao pastrami tastes like leftovers cooked by a clueless chef

    Henry Wu · October 10, 2014
  • James P.

    Seems overrated, but still good

    James Paden · October 2, 2014

No idea what the hype is about MCF ?! Worse food we have had last 2 yrs! Dumplings avg, wings overfried (lil meat), broccoli&brisket cheap meat AND Fresh Rice Noodle made 2 of us 3 literally vomit!
