It's easy to over order here, but squeeze in the beef tartare. Salmon roe, steak and chilies wrapped in shiso. So good.

Mapo tofu is excellent, an intricate entanglement of flavors. Salt cod fried rice, 3 of us felt it was a complete disappointment.

way better than the old location. order the tasting menu - the 3x cooked bacon, the wings, the green tea noodles! don't forget to check out the bar downstairs. love the vibe - hit up 169 bar after.

Spicy peanut noodles, rice cakes, pea greens and squash broth. Phillip Collins cocktail the BEST

There is a bar downstairs in the back while you wait for your table. Drinks are pretty pricey but the Old Fashioned is worth it!

The turnip cake appetizer was great! The fried chicken was excellent and I wish I could eat the cumin lamb tibs every hour on the hour. Fall of the bone and melt in your mouth greatness!

Order the pork cheeks, you will thank me.

Tom Khallins will be in my dreams for months. Do not leave without Mapo Tofu, wings, black bean clams with squid ink naan.

Incredible. Kung pao pastrami. Wish I had also ordered the salt cod fried rice.

    Dave Cummings · March 11

    Thrice cooked bacon

    Andrew Abshere · March 9

Must get spicy wings. If you need a less spicy option try the fried chicken also excellent.

    Melissa Arrrgh · March 7

Sorry for the wait but you'll enjoy the drinks and if you're looking for spicy, you'll get spicy. Also, very cool interior.

as much as i miss the grunge of the old location, i appreciate the classy new digs. and the twin peaks themed bathroom hallway is very well done.

While the tasting menu looks tempting, I can't imagine finishing it. We got the Tiger Salad, Rice Cakes, Kung Pao Pastrami and the Beggars duck for four and it was more than enough - all awesome!

I can not recommend the chewy green tea noodles, Napa cabbage and salt and pepper lamb tips enough! Every drink was killer, I recommend the Phil Collins. We had no trouble cleaning our plates!

    Jwow · February 27
  • Lauren S.

    Over priced and jappy.

    Lauren Steinke · February 27

Sistema suggests: beef tartare, raw scallops, green tea noodles, black truffle and ham soup*, lamb soup, clams in black bean sauce, pork cheeks, oat noodles*, beggars duck*

But of a wait, but all the food was flavorful and amazing. If you don't like spicy this might not be the place for you.

Mongolian beans are my fav. Or put some mapu tofu on the pizza

Not real Chinese food (was that bbq sauce I tasted??) but still tasty. Very salty. Hot wings are hot.

    Everything is spicy. Byo milk

Pork belly and ribs very good. Chicken wings very spicy, very good.

The food is so good but it burns so badly. Get the bread service for some heat relief.

Worst place ever, it's NYC it's 2015 and we still have places where gay people are not welcomed nor treated well.... I'm sad and hurt :(

Richard Abi Saab · February 15

Everything is amazing here but you can skip the wings, there's a spice on there that just might kill you buzz.

Danny Bowien's gonzo Chinese cooking is more refined and smart than it used to be. The new dining room is also gorgeous, with red banquets lending an old New York feel.

Overhyped. Food was good, but not mind-blowing.

The whole roasted duck is the best duck I've ever eaten. Get it, it's worth the $$

    Gigi Agius · January 30

Order the excellent Spicy Chicken Wings as a starter, and the Cumin Lamb Ribs as a main. Skip the overly-sauced Mapo Tofu and the bizarre Squid Ink Peanut Noodles.

    Lori Luo · January 24

The chicken wings are REALLY hot. Serious heat.

The MC crew has settled into their new space nicely and the cocktails (Tso's!) are a nice addition. Lobster on the fried rice is generous, chicken mango salad is refreshing, wings are a highlight.

    ZZubin · January 23

Brisket beef &brocc, lamb ribs are awesome. The pizza was DELISH. great drinks, very cool decor and beats. Will be returning.

    Leah Hammerschlag · January 22

The spicy? You CAN'T HANDLE THE SPICY! Must-order items are the fried chicken appetizer, and any entree repertoire here needs the Kung Pow pastrami and salt cod fried rice.

    Ray Lin · January 20

Danny Bowien's comeback in huge new renovated location that feels like an LES lounge, an awesome Asian-y cocktail menu, and the same great spicy food: Mapo tofu, thrice cooked bacon, Kung Pao pastrami

    Noah Weiss · January 17
  • Tyler L.

Amazing, non standard Chinese Food items. Delicious and complex cocktails. Must try the bread service, chicken wings, thrice fried bacon, kung pow pastrami, and beef jerky fried rice. Get there early

    Tyler Lund · January 11

The general tso's old fashioned is sweet, so smooth, and not at all spicy.

    Andrew Conti · January 11
  • Bin Y.

Holy spicy food. Danny Bowien will blast your taste buds with explosive or numbing spices. Get the wings, cod fried rice, lamb, triple cooked bacon, and the uni or duck if you feel like dropping $$$

I really like the atmosphere, but I've been here a couple of times and just don't get what all the talk is about 👎. Pizza and wings (spicy) are good 👍

The new, improved, and (much) larger Mission Chinese made a huge leap forward with the addition of one of the city's best -- and most thrillingly outside-the-box -- cocktail programs.

Chongqing Chicken Wings - explosive chili, xinjiang spices, and crispy beef tripe. "Sichuan peppercorns provide vibrating, tingling, & numbing sensations."

New location is too sick. Get the bread

The food's going to come whenever it's cooked, so ignore the menu calling dishes appetizers, and hope they don't bring the rice first, or forget to order it for a few minutes, then remember.

    Adam Bard · December 23, 2014
  • Alexander S.

Anything from the wood oven, squid ink noodles, winter melon soup

    Alexander Sahn · December 22, 2014
  • Adam B.

Salt cod rice w/sausage a standout, a good balance for any "very spicy" dish (which means what it says - you've been warned).
